I’m very big on getting to know a pet, their temperament, and all their favorite spaces and hiding places to ensure they can receive the best, stress-free experience possible. If possible, I’d love to meet you and your pet together for extended visits. In a client’s home, I always locate the pet first to ensure they’re safe and sound, and like to note the level of their water and food bowls in case they’re not eating or drinking well and need medical attention. If they’re a dog that needs to go outside, I’ll leash them and take them on a walk around the neighborhood, varying in length depending on how active they are. I’ll take note of and communicate any irregular bathroom or other behaviors. After a walk, I’ll refill water and food bowls if necessary and will sit and play for some additional time before locking up. In the case of a cat, I will check food and water and replenish if need be, and also scoop the litterbox to ensure there are no accidents and to check for irregularities. If a playful cat, I’ll play for a while before locking up, but if not playful, I can just sit and give a sense of company for a little bit.
