Availability

Dogs join us on adventures. Walks in the woods, soccer games, swimming in the lake. We work from home during the day and always with our dogs. When we run errands your dog can relax in the house or stay in a crate if they prefer. We typically take 1 long walk per day and 1-2 shorter walks after school with the kids. Dogs can join or stay home depending on ability.

Safety, trust & environment

During the day I work from a furnished barn on our property and your dog will join me there. I have bedding and toys available for them. I often am moving between the house and the barn which offers many opportunities for bathroom breaks and playing. Some dogs prefer hanging out in the house by themselves. Some sleep in my lap. I require all dogs to have a good call response. This is for their safety in a fun, yet foreign, environment and is also a requirement in our town.

Information Kurt M. would like to know about your pet

Clear communication gives the best results! Through many dogs we've found what makes an excellent fit and kindly ask that you read below and be honest with us and your dog about their habits. CALL RESPONSE: All medium to large breeds must have a good call response. We prioritize safety during our walks and respect other dog walkers in the woods. HYPER ACTIVITY: Due to our active young kids and active lifestyle, we do not accept hyper active dogs as they tend to get overly excited and misbehave. CHEWING: All dogs chew and we keep extra toys, bones, etc for dogs whom those treats are allowed. But we respectfully decline dogs who chew furniture ;). SLEEP: Most dogs love sleeping with our kids but we require all dogs have the ability to sleep through the night.

A typical day

Our go-to destinations are the trails around our house. There are miles of trails surrounding us, although we have our preferred routes that wind through conservation land, up hills, through creeks. If we are familiar with dogs we can let them off leash during our walks. They must be trained to return to us and we must know their temperament around other dogs. If we are not familiar with your dog we keep them on a leash.

Pet care experience

We typically take 1-2 dogs at a time and include them in our daily routine. We have a large house with a big yard and multiple acres of conservation land abutting our house. We watch dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. Our three boys (middle school and high school) manage the dogs, their walkign schedule, feedings and Rover communication (with mom and dad's oversight). While this means teenage style communication is possible, it also leads to a LOT of attention from each child because they use Rover money to pay for their car insurance, phones, etc. Dad works from home and typically walks 3miles in the woods each day rain or shine. Mom is an avid runner and any dog interested in runs typically joins her for 3-5 miles. So plenty opportunity for exercise!

Kurt and his family were fantastic. They cared for Reuben in their home for a week while we were away, complete with cuddles and walks in the woods. Highly recommend.
