My older cat, Paul Simon (9), came to me as a kitten after surviving a serious accident and recovering from significant orthopedic injuries. As he healed, it became clear that he also had complex behavioral needs. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with veterinarians and specialists to navigate anxiety, fear-based behavior, pre-medication for vet visits, and long-term care for chronic conditions, including dental issues and mild cardiac disease. He’s affectionate, intense, and opinionated—and caring for him has taught me patience, adaptability, and deep respect for feline boundaries. My younger cat, Books, is medically fragile and has required consistent, attentive care. Supporting him has made me very comfortable with medication routines, monitoring subtle changes in behavior or appetite, and following detailed care instructions. I’m attentive, methodical, and aware that even small changes can matter when a cat has medical needs. In addition to caring for my own cats, I have years of pet-sitting experience, including extended in-home care.
