Pet care experience
Old dog energy is my green flag.
Hi, I'm Kristin. I'm a corporate burnout empty nester new to the Charleston area. For the past several years I took care of dogs in my home and eventually opened "Casa Chihuahua," an in home boarding experience dedicated to the needs of old and special needs dogs. I have a special fondness for small, old and wonky dogs and currently travel with two rescue chihuas of my own. I have experience with geriatric and special needs dogs and I am committed to finding a routine that works for each dog’s unique needs. Larger dogs or those who require a lot of exercise might be a better fit with a more active provider. What I can’t provide in long hikes and fetch sessions I make up for with stroller rides, short beach walks, drive thru treats and snuggles under an electric blanket.

Best dog sitter we have ever found!

She really took care of my dog who is shy and timid around other dogs.

Marigold had a great stay with Kristin and we think she enjoyed being around a bunch of other small dogs for the weekend.

Kristin is amazing! This is the second time I have had my dog Teddy stay with her and he loves it. He absolutely loves Kristin and I feel so assured knowing he's safe with her while I'm away. I highly recommend her!

Kristin is an incredibly caring person, with a big heart for 4-legged and 2-legged creatures! I felt so at ease leaving our beloved senior Cavalier in her care while we were away. I could see from her many photos and videos that my little fella felt loved and right at home. Our pooch has many health issues as he ages and Kristin managed everything with grace, patience, and so much love. She is an amazing person and excellent caregiver!

Kristin provided Mazzie with wonderfully warm, thoughtful and playful care for the weekend. She is experienced and has made her home a great setting for dogs, but also listens and communicates well. We will definitely work with her again!

Schedule
I work from home and have a flexible schedule. My daily routine already incorporates meals, walks, car rides and and cuddles for my crew so I am used to daily care. My two chihuahuas come with me where I go - I'm essentially looking for dogs who might like to ride along with us.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I have access to a fenced yard, a stroller, a sling, a dog-friendly car, pee pads, playpens, gates etc. Having cared for special needs dogs of my own (including one blind, one lame and one brain damaged) I am unfazed by accidents. My two chihuahuas are friendly and accustomed to meeting new dogs but we can adapt to boundaries and comfort levels as appropriate.
Pets
A typical day
I like to establish a nice and safe walking route around the neighborhood, or at a destination location good for leisurely walks, a car ride, a stop at a small-dog friendly park or home, where I have access to a fenced in yard. A very high energy dog who needs a lot of exercise is not a good fit.
