Pet care experience

Here to comfort and enrich your pet

I worked in the grooming department of PetSmart as a bather while getting my nursing prerequisites many many moons ago, and I loved that job. Prior to that I have had my own dogs, helped train my mom's dogs and animal/home sat for countless families beginning around age 10. I just love loving on just about all creatures. ( I am more of an admiring observer of snakes and spiders!) I love being a Nurse as well, but compassion fatigue and burnout are much higher risks in that field. So I swore, if I ever had the chance, to spend more energy and focus on being with animals, I would. My goal is to build more experience in this world and have that experience inform a pet care/boarding brick and mortar business, while meeting new people through their pets. I am skilled at blending fun with a high level of professionalism. I look forward to meeting you and in building a stellar reputation in the pet care space.

Safety, trust & environment

Though I do not have a fenced in yard, we do have a great neighborhood to walk in, with sidewalks, paths/trails into wooded areas that then open up to an open field and will take them on walks 4 to 5 times per day. My husband and I are newlyweds and since I am a newly recovering workaholic, we did not have time for a pet. This means now that I have time, I can prioritize your pet. Does your pup like to hike? So do I!. Happy to take him/her on a hike if that's a desire, often times my husband will join me so you'll have two human friends watching over your furry family. I don't typically like to socialize dogs (especially puppies) at dog parks (I like to socialize them with dogs I know until they get older and/or we have had enough time to build a trusting relationship with one another), but if your dog is used to dog parks I am happy to take them to your prefered dog park. I am active so my default is to do things that I can include them, i.e. anything from running to Home Depot to get something to taking them out to eat and enjoying some patio time. I was trained in human care as a nurse but do have experience providing first aid to pets. Because I was a bather and weirdly enjoy it, I am always willing to do more than just clean off visable dirt. I am game for hours of brushing and beautifying your pet. Do you have a dog that hates baths and makes it near impossible; we can work on that. I will treat your home with the care and attention to detail that I would want given to mine. In fact, for an additional fee if you need anything on your property organized, cleaned, gardened, etc.. while I am there and is within reason, I love to keep busy and would be happy to discuss what I can help you cross off your to-do list. Happy to do grocery or supply runs, pick-up laundry, make pet food from scratch, etc... I am here to make life easier and enjoy your animals in the process.

Kristin & Greg are amazing with my pup! They go above and beyond for him. Kristin always provides helpful feedback to keep us informed. I’ve tried several people from this app, and she has been the best by far!

Kristin is truly the only person we trust to watch our pets. She takes such fantastic care of them and treats them with so much love, patience, and attention. She is not only reliable and communicative, but also such a genuine, kind person. It gives us so much peace of mind knowing our babies are in her care. We never have to worry when Kristin is checking on them because we know they are safe, loved, and well taken care of. We are so grateful for her and would recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can fully trust with their pets.

This was our first time using Rover and Kristin did not disappoint! She went above and beyond to take care of our dog. She was communicative and professional, and so sweet with our pup! I am so grateful that she was available and ready to help, and we'll definitely be reaching out to Kristin and her husband again next time we go away.

Schedule

Currently, I am flexible for daily care anytime and/or to care for your pet anytime you travel or go on vacation, as long as I get enough notice. I recently decided to step away from my administrative role in healthcare in order to ward off burnout and get back to caring for others in a different capacity after some rest and reset time. I love caring for animals large and small and this will give me a chance to re-connect with the things I love, allow me time and practice in getting back to simple pleasures, slower pace, and still meet my nursing heart needs; by having people and pets to pour my caring nature into.

I would want to know safety items first, Vet name and number, any medical issues, medications, any allergies, and also what kind of a car rider are they? I will typically use a dog car harness, but if for any reason that is not wanted or available do they stay in their seat or try to get in your lap, etc…? Secondly, what are your pet’s routines, what is their eating schedule (including what food to make or feed them), when and how often do they need to pee and when and how often do they need to poop? Thirdly, what are your pets means of communication? To tell me they need to go outside, do they pace, ring, a bell, stare at you, etc… Do they have any unique ways to communicate a need? Some other items that are helpful include: Quirks, gaps in training you would appreciate help with, what foods are their favorite, what are their favorite activities, what activities do they dislike, are they food, play, or affection driven, are they child friendly, animal friendly, etc… I can handle dog aggressive dogs in public and help desensitize them to park walks over time after building trust. I prefer not to work with stranger aggressive animals. I can spend sometime prior to care trying to build trust but if I can not establish any trust or they are not play or food driven to help train then it will be a case by case basis as to moving forward with care. So just let me know if they are dog or stranger aggressive in advance. I am happy to care for special needs animals, senior dogs that need more help, but good notes on things to expect, medication routines, things that alleviate symptoms, etc…
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
