Pet care experience

Let’s have a pawsome time!

Hiya! My name is Kristen, and I’m so excited to meet the pets and families of the Standish area! I have a unique background in animal care, with 5 years of experience as a veterinary technician and over a year working in a doggy daycare. I also spent the past 5 years pet sitting for clients from my veterinary hospital in South Portland, building trusted relationships with over 20 families. My veterinary background gives me extensive experience with medication administration, injections, senior pets, special needs animals, and recognizing when something may not be quite right. I am comfortable caring for dogs, cats, elderly pets, pets with medical needs, and a variety of animals including goats and chickens. Your pets’ safety and comfort will always be my top priority, and I will communicate quickly to you, and sometimes shoot a personal text to a veterinarian friend, if any concerns arise while you’re away. My love for animals extends far beyond cats and dogs! I’ve cared for all kinds of creatures, from scales and feathers to even blubber. I had the amazing opportunity to intern with Marine Mammals of Maine, where I helped rehabilitate Harbor Seals. I am also a proud pet mom to two cats of my own, and I understand how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with your animals. My fiancé and I recently moved to Standish, and I’m looking forward to bringing my years of animal care experience to families in this community. Whether your pet needs medication, extra patience, playtime, enrichment, or simply a little love while you’re away, I will treat them like they are my own and keep your mind at peace. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry (or not-so-furry) family members!

Safety, trust & environment

I prefer in-home sitting, which allows me to provide house sitting as well. I love being able to keep pets comfortable in their own environment where they feel safest, while maintaining their normal routines, feeding schedules, medications, and daily habits. I’m happy to help care for your home while you’re away by bringing in mail, keeping things tidy, and making sure everything is secure. My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing both your pets and your home are being cared for while you’re gone.

Before sitting or walking your pup, I’d love to learn a little more about your fur baby! Every pet is unique, and I want to make sure I understand their personality, routines, and needs. A few things I’d love to know: * Does your pup have any allergies or sensitivities? * Are they reactive to anything (other dogs, people, sounds, certain environments)? * What kind of exercise and activities do they enjoy most? * What commands do they know or are they currently working on? I have experience with dog training and enrichment, and I love helping dogs stay mentally and physically engaged through games, positive reinforcement, and activities they enjoy. Please also let me know if your pet has any special care needs, such as medications, mobility concerns, or specific routines. With my veterinary technician background, I am comfortable administering medications, including oral medications and injections. I also understand how important consistency is when it comes to medical care. One of my own cats had asthma and received a daily inhaler, so I know firsthand how much trust it takes to have someone care for a pet’s special needs while you’re away.
