Get out and smell the smells!
I grew up in a home full of dogs of all shapes and sizes, so I have a lifetime of hands-on experience with a wide variety of breeds and personalities. From playful puppies to wise senior dogs, I’ve learned how to make every pup feel safe, happy, and cared for. Whether it’s keeping them entertained, well-exercised, or simply loved while you’re away, I treat each dog (or any other species!) like part of the family. My first dog of my own was an incredibly sweet German Shepherd who adored tug-of-war, carrying giant sticks, kayaking, and bird-watching. Since she passed, I’ve missed having a four-legged adventure buddy. If your pup loves the outdoors, I’d be thrilled to take them hiking. For those who prefer to stay closer to home, we’ll find plenty of fun right in the neighborhood. Whatever your dog’s personality or needs, I’m here to provide the care and companionship they deserve.

Safety, trust & environment
At this time, I only offer housesitting in the client's home (property management rules). I want every pet to feel safe, loved, and understood while in my care and I am happy to do whatever you think is best for your pet. ... I try to convey to each animal, with body language and treats, that I am a safe person and I will give them their space to come to me once they are comfortable. I prefer to use positive reinforcement and negative punishment training techniques (i.e. giving treats/pets when a dog allows me to put their harness on, and stepping away/withholding treats or happy voice when a dog jumps on me). It's helpful for me to know your pet's likes, dislikes, and quirks so that I can give them the best care while you're away.

Kona did such a great job with our dog. We had never left him before on a trip, but Kona was the perfect companion and took care of our little guy in the best way. Would highly recommend Kona. She is intuitive, thoughtful, and caring.
Kona is awesome! She has repeatedly demonstrated her understanding of what large, active breeds need, their behaviors and how to interact with them. She is reliable, a great communicator and is just generally very friendly. She's earned my full trust to housesit and take care of my GSD mix.

Schedule
I like to schedule walks and drop-ins midday on weekdays and I am happy to housesit any time. My weekends are booked out for the summer but, if your pup is comfortable around other dogs or going camping, feel free to ask about a weekend I have listed as unavailable.
