Attention & Play While You’re Away
Independence and Hanover. We welcome your dog(s) and some other pets to our semi-country setting in Independence on acreage, or every other week, in Hanover. Hairy pets get brushed daily. Reasonably tolerant dogs get a bath (no extra charge unless XL, then $25). I can also trim nails and do haircuts- though results vary! Your pet will play outside, supervised (dog park avail), and sleep inside. I generally take one dog at a time (other than unavoidable overlaps in schedule), but if you have a pair that should stay together, feel free to contact me. There's enough love in our house for everyone. My sweet Bailey passed away on 7/13/26. I will update my profile later. My calendar may show I am available only every other week. However, this is a work-around for how the Rover calendar works. Please reach out even if calendar shows blocked. Thank you for your understanding! I work FT from home. My Independence yard is 4 acres, with woods, pond, and wildlife. KJ is very nice and honest, and I appreciate her being upfront that my 10-month-old puppy was not a good fit for her home. I provided all necessary supplies, including a kennel, car carrier, 30-foot training lead, and essentials. A few days into my vacation, I was told that my puppy had accidents in the house and chewed some shoes. I understand that puppies can be challenging and that a sitter may decide a dog is not a good fit for future stays. However, it was very stressful to receive that news while I was already away and then have all future bookings canceled at once. KJ may be a better fit for older, fully house-trained dogs that are past the puppy chewing stage.
Coco has stayed with Kj several times. As is typical, she had a great time over the 4th of July holiday. It is worth mentioning that coco is afraid of fireworks, & this was the first time that we left her with a sitter on the 4th. It is a strong statement about the trust we have in Kj.
Coco was so excited to see Kj & Bailey. Once again, she had a lovely day. She came home relaxed, happy & tired. Thank you Kj! You are appreciated.

I felt incredibly comfortable leaving my sweet girl with Kj S. We met for a meet and greet since this was my first time using Kj S. I could see how she interacted with my dog and to make sure her dog and mine could be friendly.

Schedule
My schedule accommodates my dog and my visiting dog friends with frequent romps outside and typically longer sessions in evening and weekends. I find brushing dogs relaxing and snuggling good for the soul. I am brave with hair clippers and nail clippers. No guarantees on aesthetics.

If your dog is not responsive to voice commands from me, Fido will be on a leash. I have removed ticks, tended cuts, and kept my own pets safe my whole life. A typical day
The Susan Burton dog park in Long Lake, the Luce Line trail, Pioneer Creek Park, and my backyard are the hot spots. If it's cold, then the trail behind my home is our main activity. In summer, my water dog friends can stand up paddleboard, kayak or get tennis balls from a local lake. I've also got a kiddie pool and sprinklers for hot days. Brushing and playing inside are also options if the weather is not cooperating.
