We put in a booking for HOUSE SITTING a little over 2 weeks before we needed to leave on our trip. She waited until 2 hours before we were supposed to leave to ask how she was going to get into our house. I told her we would give her a key before we left. Only then did she tell us she worked until 1PM despite the fact that she accepted the booking for starting between 8:30-9:30AM. We had to leave our door open and a key on the table. We're lucky we live in a relatively safe area. I asked her to change the booking start time because I figured the amount of money due would change. It did, by about $12. Then we find out from our neighbor that she didn't show up until 1:30PM, even though the booking time she changed it to said starting at 12-1. Neighbors said she stayed for like an hour then left and didn't come back and they were concerned about the dogs being left alone so long. It's now 6AM the next morning and my dogs haven't been let out since 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Kirey sent me a text to tell me the dogs ate but honestly I don't even know if I can trust that. All of this was made even more stressful by the fact that I am in an area with spotty cell service. I had to contact my dad to go over and take care of my dogs. The whole point of hiring a house sitter was so he wouldn't have to do this. His wife (My mom) died a month and a half ago and he has other things to worry about than having to drive across town to care for my dogs when I've already hired someone I'm paying to do it. We've used Rover several times and it's always been great but I would NEVER hire this sitter again for ANYTHING. I called her using the Rover # when she didn't answer my texts and she didn't answer the phone. Only after I called her did she finally text me back. We're 5 and a 1/2 hours from home and I'm so worried about my dogs having been without a bathroom break for that long. It really felt like she absolutely was trying to take advantage of us and get as much money as possible without having to do any of the work. She text me, after accepting a house sitting job (and charging for a house sitting job) to tell me she was not comfortable staying at other people's houses and her page said that. I could not find anything stating that. If I had we never would have hired her. I have screen shots showing we have her booked for housesitting. She specifically had house sitting listed. If she doesn't house sit she shouldn't say that she does and she shouldn't have agreed to it or charged for it in the first place. She seemed deceitful and like she was trying to get as much money as she could, just hoping we would be none the wiser. Also when my dad went over to pick up my dogs he stated the house was unlocked. So not only was she not staying there like she had agreed to when we booked but anyone could have walked into our house at any time. Terrible experience. Rover support was great in helping us deal with this but this woman herself just made what was supposed to be a fun time away into a total nightmare. Her excuse was she had kids and her own pets but if that's the case she shouldn't be falsely advertising services. She had plenty of time to tell us she didn't do house sitting but it honestly just feels like she was hoping we wouldn't notice and she could just take us for $142. I'm so angry. Completely disrespectful, unprofessional and unreliable. She had multiple times to be honest with us and she just wasn't. It makes me very hesitant to ever use this app again.
