Pet care experience

Animal ♥️ is in my DNA 🐾

About Me Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in South Africa, where my grandparents bred Huskies, so from day one I was surrounded by dogs and learned firsthand what it means to care for animals with love, patience, and respect. My childhood home was often jokingly referred to by friends as a zoo. At any given time, we typically had 6–8 dogs and 4 cats sharing our home. Animals were never separate from family life—they lived inside, slept inside, and were treated as cherished members of the family. Because of this upbringing, caring for animals isn’t something I learned later in life—it’s simply part of who I am. Understanding animal behaviour, recognizing body language, and ensuring pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved has always come naturally to me. I currently share my home with my Pomeranian, Baloo, who is the center of my world. Before Baloo, I was fortunate to spend 12 incredible years with my beloved dog, Koda. When Koda passed away, I created Koda Candles in his memory and honour—a tribute to the unconditional love, loyalty, and joy he brought into my life. Training and socialization are extremely important to me. I believe dogs thrive when they have structure, confidence, and positive experiences. Both of my dogs have received extensive training, and Baloo has attended training with Clever Canines since he was a young puppy. Last summer, we completed their Core Group Training program together. I take pride in raising dogs who are well-behaved, socialized, and comfortable around people and other animals, and I carry that same understanding and consistency into the care I provide for every dog. I don’t have children, and I don’t have family nearby, so my pets truly are my family. That same level of love and care extends to every animal entrusted to me. Whether your dog is energetic and playful, shy and sensitive, or enjoying their senior years, I will treat them as if they were my own. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pet with someone else. My goal is to provide a safe, loving, and stress-free environment where your dog feels comfortable, cared for, and spoiled with attention. Plenty of cuddles, playtime, exercise, supervision, and affection come standard. For me, pet care isn’t just a service—it’s a lifelong passion that’s truly in my blood. Dogs have always been family, and I would be honoured to care for yours as if they were part of mine. 🐾❤️

Kimberly took great care of my 2 dogs on their 6 day stay. They clearly bonded with her during their stay and were happy and calm when I picked them up. The daily update pictures were appreciated.

I highly recommend Kim as a pet sitter and dog walker! Kim is truly wonderful with animals, and you can rest assured that your pets will be in safe, loving hands under her care. She has a lovely backyard that provides a great space for pets, and her home is conveniently located close to a dog park. My own dogs absolutely love staying at her place whenever they have the opportunity, and I always have complete peace of mind knowing they are well taken care of. I wholeheartedly recommend her services to any pet parent looking for a trustworthy and attentive caretaker.

Kimberly was such an amazing dog sitter! Sent lots of photos and updates and was very responsive! Our pup was so comfortable in her home, loved swimming in her paddling pool and playing with her pups. We could not be more grateful to her for keeping our boy while we were visiting Calgary! Thank you so much for all your care and all the little extras!!

Kimberly did an amazing job looking after my senior dog, Norm, for six days. She kept me informed with daily updates and photos, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was away. She was a great communicator, very caring, and clearly treated Norm like one of her own. Norm also got along really well with her dog, Baloo, which was great to hear. I would absolutely recommend Kimberly and would happily have her watch Norm again!

Kim is hands down the best sitter I’ve found on Rover! I couldn’t have asked for a better person to watch my Pomeranian. She treated him like he was her own, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She has the sweetest little Pomeranian herself, and the two of them got along so well. It was obvious my dog was having the best time! Kim sent lots of photos, videos, and updates throughout his stay, which I really appreciated. Her home is every dog’s dream, she has so many toys, a ball pit, a pool, and a beautiful, secure yard for them to run around and play in. You can tell she genuinely loves dogs and goes above and beyond to make sure they’re happy, safe, and well cared for. I honestly can’t recommend Kim enough. She’s by far the best sitter I’ve found on Rover, and I’ll absolutely be booking with her again. If you’re looking for someone who will love and care for your dog like family, she’s the one!

Schedule

My schedule is currently very flexible, as I am not working outside the home at the moment. This allows me to be home throughout the day and provide plenty of supervision, companionship, and attention. When caring for dogs, my daily routine revolves around their needs. Whether that means walks, playtime, potty breaks, feeding schedules, training reinforcement, or simply providing company and cuddles, I am able to adjust my day to ensure they are comfortable, happy, and well cared for. Because I am home most of the time, dogs in my care are rarely left alone for extended periods. I understand that every dog has different needs and routines, and I do my best to maintain consistency so they feel safe and relaxed while their owners are away.

Safety, trust & environment

Care Philosophy Your dog’s comfort, safety, and happiness are my top priorities. I believe every dog is different, and I do my best to maintain the routines and rules they are used to at home. Whether your pup prefers sleeping in a crate, on their own bed, or curled up on the couch, I am happy to accommodate their needs and your preferences. Dogs are never treated as “boarders”—they become part of the household during their stay. My goal is to make their stay feel as much like home as possible. Home Environment My home is very dog-friendly, and dogs in my care are welcome to roam freely and be part of the family. If your dog is used to being on furniture or sleeping on the bed, they’re welcome to do so here too. I have a large, secure fenced yard where dogs can safely play and explore. Inside, there are plenty of toys, enrichment activities, a ball pit, treats, and opportunities for play, mental stimulation, and relaxation. Daily Activities Daily exercise, fresh air, and adventures are an important part of life here. Dogs can enjoy playtime, mental stimulation, relaxation, and plenty of opportunities to stay active and engaged throughout the day. Local Outings We are also fortunate to live in a very walkable community with access to beautiful pathways and parks, including nearby off-leash areas along the river. Many local businesses and restaurants are dog-friendly, and my own dog, Baloo, accompanies me on many outings, so I understand the importance of socialization and exposing dogs to different environments in a safe and positive way. Personalized Care Before any stay, I take the time to learn about your dog’s personality, routines, preferences, and any special requirements. Whether they are energetic and playful, shy and reserved, young or senior, I will ensure they receive the individualized care, attention, and affection they deserve. When your dog stays with me, they Yucan expect plenty of love, supervision, exercise, cuddles, and treats—and you’ll have peace of mind knowing they are being cared for as if they were my own.

A typical day

Enrichment & Activities Keeping dogs mentally stimulated and physically active is something I genuinely enjoy. Every dog is different, so I tailor activities to their age, energy level, personality, and owner’s preferences. Throughout the day, dogs in my care can enjoy interactive toys, treat puzzles, lick mats, stuffed Kongs, sniffing games, hide-and-seek with treats, fetch in the yard, enrichment activities, and my indoor ball pit. I love incorporating activities that challenge their minds as well as their bodies, helping them stay engaged, confident, and happy. Outdoor time is a big part of our routine. With a large fenced yard, nearby walking paths, and access to river pathways and off-leash areas, there are plenty of opportunities for exercise, exploration, and fresh air. For dogs who enjoy social outings, I also frequent dog-friendly areas and businesses with my own dog, Baloo. During the summer months, I’ll be adding a doggy splash pool for pups who enjoy water play and cooling off on warm days. I also enjoy practicing basic commands, reinforcing good manners, and providing positive interactions throughout the day. Whether your dog loves chasing a ball, exploring new smells, learning tricks, cuddling on the couch, or simply relaxing in the sun, I’ll make sure their days are filled with attention, enrichment, and fun. I understand that not every dog wants to play all day. If a dog becomes overstimulated, overwhelmed, tired, or simply needs a break, I will provide a calm, quiet space where they can relax, nap, decompress, and recharge. Paying attention to each dog’s comfort level and body language is an important part of creating a safe and positive experience. Most importantly, dogs are rarely left alone and are included in my daily routine, receiving plenty of companionship, affection, and one-on-one attention.

What I’d Like to Know About Your Dog The more I know about your dog, the better I can make their stay comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. Every dog has their own personality, routines, preferences, and quirks, and I want to provide care that feels as familiar and stress-free as possible. Please let me know about your dog’s energy level, temperament, and socialization style. Are they outgoing and playful, or more reserved and independent? Do they enjoy the company of other dogs, or do they prefer their own space? If your dog is shy, anxious, nervous in new environments, or easily overstimulated, I can adjust activities and provide quiet time when needed. If your dog enjoys canine companionship, I do my best to ensure they are paired with dogs that have a similar energy level and play style. Creating positive and appropriate social interactions is very important to me. I would also like to know about any medical conditions, special needs, allergies, medications, mobility limitations, dietary requirements, or health concerns. Clear instructions help me maintain your dog’s normal routine and ensure they receive the care they need. Most importantly, tell me about the little things that make your dog unique. Their favorite toys, treats, games, sleeping habits, fears, comforts, commands, routines, and quirky personality traits all help me understand how to make them feel at home and give them the best possible experience while you’re away. My goal is to care for your dog the way you would, with patience, attention, understanding, and lots of love.
