Availability

I'm currently working Monday through Friday in an office job and working with dogs on weekends to gain more experience, learn about different personalities, and explore how to best support each dog. For Doggy-Day-Care the dogs will get intentional walks focused on engagement, socialization activities, and crate time to rest in between activities. For boarding, we would do all of the above and do our best to match morning/night time routines you have.

Safety, trust & environment

At home with Lando, I focus on structure to ensure he's set up for success. Our structure consists of exercise, crate time, place work, boundaries, and guidance. All of these components contribute to helping him feel more relaxed and less anxious. On our walks, I focus on engagement and confidence building with Lando to work him physically and mentally. With client dogs, I love to help encourage more mental and physical fulfillment through walks and structured socialization. For client dogs that struggle with anxiety or reactivity, I love to help them feel supported while gaining safe distanced exposure to triggers.

Information Kianna & Justin C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog needs any physical accommodations. I am more than happy to do the best I can in assisting with physical accommodations whether that include muzzling, using gear to support their backside, etc. Please let me know if your dog has any reactivity, sensitivity, or other behaviors that I should be aware of. If so, please specify what the triggers are and what the reactions look like - I’d be more than happy to help them work through those challenges. An example of sensitivity could include your dog not wanting to be touched in certain areas or not want to be touched at all. I am not a professional dog trainer, however I do have >3 years of experience working through challenges with my personal dog who has anxiety & reactivity. Most of his reactivity is fear-based and can include barking/lunging. To avoid big reactions and navigate those big reactions when they happen, I utilize the handling skills I’ve learned over the past 3 years. In addition to my personal experience, I have been volunteering with a local rescue to help fulfill dogs that are in boarding and attending various trainer-led events such as workshops and group classes.

A typical day

With all services, my attention is focused on maintaining calm, neutral, and structured interactions with each dog. A typical day for dogs in my care include structured walks focused on engagement, structured socialization, and crate time. I highly value crate time after walks/activities for the dog to decompress and absorb all the learning we did during the walk/activity. If your dog is not comfortable with a crate, we can work on getting them more comfortable with the crate. For drop-in visits I can work on exposure/socialization or play your dog’s favorite games. Exposure/socialization could include walking in parks, neighborhoods, or shopping centers where there are other dogs, children, and adults visible. I do not do any on-leash greetings for the safety of all dogs and handlers. I also would not allow humans to approach or pet client dogs unless that is something we have discussed prior. After a walk, we could also stop to sit in one of these environments to simply observe with a calm mindset.

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Kianna! I grew up in a multi-dog household and always loved interacting with dogs of friends/family. I currently have a 3 year old Australian Shepherd named Lando and he is the first dog I've owned as an adult. Lando is a dog that struggles with anxiety, reactivity, and sensitivity that we are working through each day. Owning Lando and learning about how to help him work through these challenges has led me to become as educated as possible on dog psychology, dog behavior, and dog handling skills. When I'm not in the office at my full-time job, I'm usually spending time with my partner, working with Lando, volunteering with a local rescue, or learning more about dog behavior through trainer membership pages, group classes, videos, and dog training podcasts. The top three trainers that I have been learning from are Jessica Graham (Honey Dog Training), Samantha Johnson (Pack Life LA), and Millie Braden (Mirror Image K9). Lando & I attended our first dog training workshop in October 2024 with Cheri Wulff Lucas. In this workshop, I was able to work with Lando and learn from watching 9 other cases. Since that workshop, I have had the opportunity to volunteer in a shelter workshop where we took 10 shelter dogs out for a day as well as volunteering to assist in group classes. I am continuously looking for new opportunities to grow my education and handling skills to help more dogs and owners in their day-to-day lives. Working through challenges with Lando and learning more from various trainers has given me the confidence and passion to help dogs be able to feel safe, supported & fulfilled in our fast-paced world.

Kianna & Justin were great throughout our pup’s stay! They were very communicative, actively gathered information ahead of time, and was more than competent/ready for our dog to stay with them. Kianna’s training is apparent and we trust her to handle our dog for a structured time away!

Torvi had a lovely stay with Kianna and Justin, I really enjoyed her updates. Torvi was very well cared for like she was part of their family. A plus is they were very knowledgeable about dog training and proper socialization. Thank you guys!
