From the young age of 8 years old, after years of begging, I rescued my first Basenji-Beagle mix pup named Molly. As a family, we also welcomed Golden Doodles, Dachshunds, and Pomeranians into our home. Most recently, I rescued Louie, a Golden Retriever/GSP mix all the way from Turkey. I have always known that dogs have their own personalities and needs, and it takes patience and understanding to make them feel comfortable and to ensure their needs are met. Louie, who is 1.5 years old, as a rescue, is very nervous and shy, not knowing his complete history as a rescue in a foreign country, has taken time to earn my trust and I have seen how rewarding it is to see him come out of his shell, with the encouragement and patience as his owner.
