Kenna can care for
Availability
I have a full time job on weekdays from 8:30am - 4:30pm. I can house sit during the week, as I get an hour for lunch, but you would have to have a pet that is comfortable being left alone for roughly 4-5 hours at a time. On weekends, I can be there 24/7, and can provide potty breaks on a 0-2 hour occasion (I currently do that for spud!).

While I can’t currently offer a place for you to bring your pet, I hope to be able to do that soon! In terms of how I can care for your pet in your home, I have found that they tend to be less anxious upon meeting me when it’s on their turf. My first interactions with new pets is usually to let them come to me at their own pace. Sometimes, if the owners are comfortable, I’ll bring Spud along! From what his daycare sitter has told me, he’s great at breaking anxious pets out of their shell. However, I do not bring him over when I housesit for cats, as he’s terrified of them (no idea why). I tend to try and take dogs outside for walks on a 2-4 hour basis, as that’s usually when Spud needs to go outside (and I’m trained to his schedule now). I feed twice a day, sometimes more if requested to, and when I spend the night, I like to sleep in the main room with the pets (I’m terrible, I let Spud, Dunkin and Ozzie sleep in bed with me, usually on top of me, like my special weighted blanket). When it comes to cats, I try to bring over treats as a form of bribery, but I do not attempt to interact unless they make the first move. For reactive pets, it’s really a case by case basis. I adapt my approach to their triggers and habits, and have a ton of experience with escapees (curtesy of Ozzie). I’m comfortable giving & handling medications, such as pills, topical treatments and inhalers. I’ve cared for animals at all stages, from 3 week old kittens to blind senior dogs, to farm animals like horses, chickens and sheep.
Information Kenna C. would like to know about your pet
If you have a reactive pet, knowing their triggers and limits ahead of time is preferable, rather than me figuring it out as I go. Additionally, if your pet needs medication or has any special needs, please let me know too! I like to try and do a little research ahead of visits so that I know what possibilities await me for your pet. My Dunkin has semi-regular seizures, so I am comfortable with dogs with similar ailments.
A typical day
I love taking dogs outside on long walks. If they’re up for it, we’ll pile into my car and head to a nearby park for some hiking. I also make sure to stimulate their brains every 2-4 hours. When I am able to bring Spud along, he usually keeps pets pretty entertained! His puppy energy tends to be infectious, and he’s not big enough to be threatening to other pets, so they all tend to get along. For reactive pups, I like to make sure I meet them where they’re at while also giving them opportunities to be normal dogs! I tend to try and take them to more secluded areas where they can sniff and enjoy nature in peace.

Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Kenna, and I am a 23 year old currently living in the Metro Detroit area. I have experience working with high maintenance dogs (I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, I promise you your dog isn’t more high maintenance than he is), special needs, large and small breeds, elderly pups and true puppies (my baby, Spud, is currently 7 months old and I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks). I’ve also house sat for pregnant and post-labor cats, horses, chickens, and sheep! Unfortunately, my family has left the state of Michigan, which means I may need to bring my dog along for the visit. Spud is often used by myself and his daycare sitter for calming anxious or reactive dogs (large and small), as he tends to be a source of comfort for them. My availability flexible, but I do have a 8:30am-4:30pm full time job during the week, so if your pet is comfortable being left for 4 hours at a time (I have an hour for lunch) then I can housesit on weekdays as well. I can’t wait to meet your furry (or maybe not so furry) friend!
Reviews
Kenna was wonderful! She even volunteered to stay longer than expected to take care of our George. She was a wonderful communicator, sent pictures/videos, and left our home just like she found it. She was very good with George and enjoyed being with him. I would highly recommend Kenna!

Kenna did a great job with our energetic puppy! She was communicative, kept the house super clean, and was overall a joy to work with. My dog loved playing with her pup! This was our first time leaving our puppy so it was such a relief not having to worry! I love that she stayed overnight- it made things much easier. She walked the dog everyday and I could tell my dog was so happy (and tired) when we got home!

My dog Gabby has great anxiety and Kenna took the time to get to know her after our meet and greet I was confident and assured Gabby would be fine in her care and she was. I ended up staying a little later than planned and Keno is really flexible and great about it. Thank you Kenna! You are awesome

We feel lucky to have found Kenna. She did a phenomenal job watching Augie, Abbot, and Eddie. Not only was she responsive and communicative the entire time, but she also went above and beyond our expectations in caring for them. It’s rare to find someone you trust completely, but Kenna is definitely that person. Five stars!
