Hello fellow Fur Parents! My name is Kendra Kain-Woods, I am 36 years old, a proud pet mom, and the Founder/Executive Director for the local nonprofit rescue Fur the Love of Animals. My professional pet care is guided by an Animals First animal care philosophy. This philosophy derives from the core belief that the animals come first. Always. No exceptions. What does putting an animal first look like? It looks like respecting boundaries; in studying animal body language and behavior, the communication gap becomes easier to bridge allowing for interactions that are not only respectful but safer for both the animal and me; it looks like patience and gentleness; in understanding that every animal has their own unique personality, preferences, quirks, and health needs, we are able to personalize care to ensure well-being and to limit stress; it looks like accepting not every animal will want to be our best friend and at times we are simply the food dispenser but that this does not affect the quality of care; it looks like love without conditions. My professional experience includes sanctuary animal care, working as a veterinary assistant, dog training, managing a boarding and dog day camp facility, some wildlife rehabilitation, and providing private pet care since 2007.
