Farmhouse Vacays!
Hi! I am Kelly and my partner’s name is Natalie. Our main goal as Rover sitters? To offer your pet a vacation while you take a break or head out of town. Why not? Your furry family member deserves it! That’s why we try to make your dog’s time with us at our Farmhouse their “Home Away from Home”. And any drop in visit or walk a refreshing and connected time with us. We do live in a farmhouse on 3 acres on Jingle Pot road in Nanaimo. Endless space and trails for your pup! We have both had pets all our lives: mainly cats and dogs. I have also been a teacher of 5-11 year olds for over 30 years so am very used to taking care of and noticing what others need. Nat teaches Kindergarten and is also an excellent caregiver and guardian. I have rescued dogs and cared for senior animals with health conditions. We also know how to train puppies. I am excellent with first aid for both animals and people. I have many years of first aid training for humans and know how to handle all the basics of cut paws or doggy mishaps as well. Natalie is excellent with training dogs large and small. Last but not least, we have air conditioning in our home so can guarantee your pet is very comfortable for summer visits. :) Friends, students, colleagues and family tell me often that my calm, kind and relaxed nature make it easy to feel safe and loved. Natalie is a spirited, friendly Aussie from Melbourne. Our home is a warm, welcome and fun space for all. We live on 3 acres in central Nanaimo so have a huge space to take the dogs for trail explorations. We also go to one of the best off leash dog beaches on the island- BlueBack Beach. We have own pup at home- Skookum our Bernedoodle. She gets along welll with other dogs and is easy going. We love to hike, bike, go to dog parks and spend time at the beach. My partner and I can’t wait to meet your fur baby! P.S. I am happy to pick up and drop off your dog. We have an EV so it is a carbon-low service!

Kelly and Natalie did a great job looking after Revy, they took her on lots of adventures sent multiple pictures a day so I didn’t have to worry about her. I would definitely use them again next time I need a sitter!

Schedule
Our regular client list is now fairly long and keeps us busy. We are no longer taking puppies or dogs 100 lbs plus. We will not take unspayed or unneutered dogs. We generally take Rover dogs on a 2 week on, 2 week off cycle but if you will host a pup for longer if she/he are a good fit.

Safety, trust & environment
One of the best things we have to offer is a doggy-social and inclusive space. Our doodle makes any pup feel more relaxed and comfortable. We are completely fenced and offer Frequent potty breaks in our backyard areas and trail excursions to de-stress. We will follow your feeding routines and help your dog feel at home. We will also do medications if required. All Rover dogs must be safe, « fixed » and fully vaccinated with flea/tick treatment. We know dogs well and will provide snuggles, snacks, play and rest time or give them their space as required.

A typical day
What is a typical day for us? We Absolutely love going to beaches, hike trails, and Westwood Lake is accessible via our backyard trail. We also love to mountain bike with my dogs so if your dog likes to run with a bike, we can do that too. And, of course, we love to chill. Read, hang out and watch TV as well as play tug and play with our pups inside when we feel like it. A great balance between exercise and relaxation describes our life.

- The key info we have learned to ask about is whether or not your dog has anxiety issues. Does he ever “mark” inside? Are they up to date with flea meds? This is a MUST. Has your dog ever been left alone? Are they fairly independent or are they needy? Do they like to chill or do they need play? Let us know what your dog or cat’s needs are and we will be sure they are taken care of.. Your pet must be spayed/neutered, up to date with vaccines and flea/tick treatment to be hosted in our home. And, of course, your dog must not be aggressive or unsafe with our dogs or other dogs or us. If your dog marks furniture indoors, we can’t take them.
