I’m currently a law student, which gives me a very flexible schedule. Monday through Friday, I have one morning class and one afternoon class, but I’m available to check on your pets during lunch, as well as in the mornings and evenings. My weekends are completely open, and as long as you don’t mind me doing a bit of studying at times, I can spend the majority of the day with your furry family—making sure they get plenty of attention, care, and companionship.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I follow care instructions closely and take time to understand each pet’s personality, triggers, and preferences. In a client’s home, I respect the space and strive to keep everything as familiar and stress-free as possible for your pet. I’m attentive to things like secure doors and gates, leash safety on walks, and monitoring food, medications, and behavior changes. I never leave pets unattended in unsafe situations and always prioritize calm, positive interactions. I’m happy to provide regular updates, photos, and check-ins so you can feel confident and connected while you’re away.

Information Kelly H. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for your pet, I like to learn as much as possible to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and happy while you’re away. Helpful things to know include your pet’s daily routine, feeding schedule, and any medical needs, allergies, or medications. I also appreciate knowing about their personality, energy level, and any behaviors or triggers—especially if they’re shy, reactive, or need extra patience. For dogs, it’s helpful to know leash manners, walking preferences, and how they interact with other animals or people. For cats, I like to understand their comfort level with handling, play preferences, and favorite hiding spots. I also ask about house rules, emergency contacts, and any quirks that make your pet unique. The more I know upfront, the better I can tailor my care and keep your pet feeling safe, relaxed, and well-loved.

A typical day

A typical day with me is built around your pet’s routine, comfort, and energy level. Mornings usually start with feeding, a walk or play session, and some one-on-one attention to set a positive tone for the day. For dogs, this may include walks, outdoor play, or even a run if they enjoy higher-energy exercise. Throughout the day, I check in for potty breaks, enrichment, and companionship, making sure pets feel engaged and cared for rather than just “checked on.” For cats, I focus on interactive play, enrichment, and calm companionship—whether that’s wand toys, laser play, brushing, or simply sitting nearby so they feel secure. I’m very attentive to individual personalities, especially shy or more independent cats, and I let them set the pace. Evenings include dinner, another walk or play session, and plenty of calm time to wind down. I’m always happy to send photo updates and notes so you can see exactly how your pet’s day is going. My goal is for every pet to feel safe, stimulated, and genuinely cared for—just like they’re with family.

Pet care experience

I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life and currently have two cats of my own, so caring for animals is second nature to me (for reference: my chore starting at age 5 was to feed the dogs 😁🐶). I’ve worked with breeds ranging from pit bulls to chihuahuas, and I’m especially comfortable with pets that need a little extra patience—whether that’s a high-energy dog or a “difficult” cat. What sets me apart is my attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile. I’m comfortable administering medication to both cats and dogs, brushing teeth, and clipping nails. I’m also a runner and love taking active dogs on short to mid-length runs or long walks if that’s something they enjoy. Whether your pet needs exercise, enrichment, or calm, reliable companionship, I tailor my care to meet their unique needs and routine.

We love Kelly. She is a very kind and responsible lady my dog Kodiak has been very happy with her. Definitely if we need someone to come and take care of Kodiak in the future, she would be our first one to ask.
