Loving "second home" for your dogs

I have a very dog-friendly home and love all animals. I had dogs my entire life (and I had a cat for 18 years, too!) I lost my last dog to cancer in 2014. Before starting Rover, I did a lot of rescue & fostering. I have a large fenced back yard. I work from home M-F so am almost always home. I love to go for walks, so the dog(s) will get plenty of exercise if they are up to it. Any dog who stays with us will get a TON of love and attention from me and my family (my youngest son is 20.) I have experience with young dogs / puppies, old dogs, special needs (blind and/or deaf; oral meds) dogs, and everything in between! I am willing to give injected and/or oral meds if needed. I can take multiple dogs from the same family; I generally prefer to not have more than one dog at a time unless they already know each other, or unless they both get along really well with all other dogs. I also will do dog, cat, bird, and other small animal drop-in visits at your home if you live close by. I really love being able to visit cats since I can't have a cat at my house due to all the dogs! Thank you for reading this, and I look forward to meeting you and your pet(s) if you think we would be a good match! I work full-time M-F from home, and the dog will be a part of the family during his or her stay with us. I love to go for walks around the neighborhood. I have a high, securely fenced yard. I also have gates to block the front doors and am very safety conscious. I have a kitchen garbage that dogs cannot access, and I keep food out of reach on the counters. In your house, I leave everything as I found it and touch as little as possible.

Elvis always has a blast with Kelly & this time coworkers said it looks like he was on vacation while we were at our offsite. It’s always great seeing him with other pups, romping in the backyard and playing with balls. Thanks again Kelly!

Safety, trust & environment

I will keep your dogs safe and happy when they are at my house. Lots of play time and cuddle time, and we usually go on at least one walk, if not more (depending on their ability, of course.)

A typical day

I will play fetch with the dogs in my backyard, or "chase" if they like that. I have a lot of balls and toys for them. I like to walk around the neighborhood; I prefer to stay on the side streets with less cars and noise. I sometimes walk through the park or down to Alki Beach. It depends on the weather, how much time I have, and how far your dog is able to walk. If going on a longer walk, I bring water and a collapsible water bowl.

I need to be sure that the dog is good with all types of people: kids, men, and women. I also like to know whether they are good with other dogs, and if they have any food-aggression or toy-aggression issues with either people or other dogs. Any "unusual" behaviors are helpful to be aware of as well (such as lunging after large/loud trucks when on a walk, etc.)
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
