Animal Advocate loves fur-babies!
Hello! Thank you for reading my profile and I hope I have the opportunity to meet you and your fur-baby. I am dedicated pet owner. I have had dogs my entire life. I used to live in FL, and I came into the animal rescue world "unofficially". I constantly found stray dogs and would always find their original owners, or they just stayed with me. Sadly, down South there is an abundance of stray animals. I got divorced in 2007 and I came back home to family. I came home with one dog. We were both lost! How do you live with just one dog?!? Family suggested I adopt a dog and so I did. Going to the shelter to find a mate for my current dog brought my awareness to the bleak look of what shelter life is like for dogs and I wanted to become more committed to helping stray animals. Since 2007 I have volunteered for various animal rescues in multiple ways. Mostly, I fostered dogs and then in 2017 I said "I need to do more to help animals" so I created my own non-profit animal rescue. Yes, I did save NUMEROUS animals but running a non-profit is like running a business without getting paid. My "salary" was knowing I saved thousands & thousands of stray animals from our high-kill shelters. During the COVID pandemic, I was asked to bottle-feed kittens. That broadened my perspective on life even further. Feeding tiny kittens is more challenging than I expected and leads to many sleepless nights. But there were so many orphaned kitties that needed help. One being, my last foster fail Dr Pepper. I've foster failed - 6 times and I have reached my limit! I currently have two dogs and four cats. One of the cats was previously fostered but was returned due to problems with using the litterbox. Owner could not manage. I made a commitment, just like I do with all my pets & foster pets, so Cinderella just stayed with me. All my pets get along. My cats are very dog savvy. Over years of rescue work, I have cared for many foster dogs that didn't get along with cats, so I know how to keep those dogs away from my cats. Baby gates work wonders! I have hung up my animal rescue leash this Summer but my heart still wants to help dogs. I would love to dog sit for your fur-baby in my home. I live in Aurora and my mom lives with me. Mom is an active 82-year-old and loves dogs just as much as I do. During our time as foster caregivers, the small dogs, affectionately referred to as the "Ankle Biters," would frequently enter Grandma's room. Many little dogs would sit with Grandma on her chair or bed and watch the Hallmark Channel. If you have a little pup, that is where they will stay. I have a fenced backyard, and I do not just let the dogs go outside and do their business. Referring to my days of rescue, I have potty trained numerous dogs and one thing that helps a dog learn potty training is 1) consistency, 2) timing and 3) praise for when they do a good job. Cannot praise them for doing a good job if I am inside. I do not mind large breed dogs to dog-sit. I know the big guys are hard to get someone to take care of. If you have a large breed dog, then she/he will stay in my family room and have the luxury of sleeping on a couch. In all my years of being a pet owner and foster Mom I have always allowed my pets on my furniture. It is a way to establish a bond. But if furniture access is a no-no in your home, then I have plenty of dog beds and if I need to, I can put out a crate if that's what they are used to as well.

Kelly was great to talk to when we did meet and greet before booking the boarding service. Our dog has separation anxiety and one of our requirements is that the sitter or a human can be home with him most of the day. He is not destructive but will bark nonstop and drool excessively in anxiety when left alone. We were very clear about this requirement and Kelly reassured us that someone will be home at all times. Our other requirement was regular updates through the day, at least two. Kelly told us that’s not a problem and that she will send so many. Everything was great. It was after we dropped him off that things changed. Apparently Kelly does not like to send updates at all. Day1, I had to ask how he’s settling. Kelly wasn’t home and sent some photos in the night. Day2, no update until 7:30. I had to reach out to ask and even then was given only a verbal confirmation of well being. I followed up at 10:30 again only to hear nobody had been home and now too tired to take a photo and send. Rudy was left home alone for hours which we were promised would not happen. Day 3 was Sunday and we got two nice updates, one morning and one evening. But no acknowledgement of the issue. Day 4, no update until we picked him up in the evening. This conduct made us fear for our dog’s safety and added a lot of undue stress during the rare time off we got. I have no other complaints of Kelly except that we feel deceived. If I had known, I wouldn’t have chosen Kelly to look after Rudy. Trust needs time and actions to be built. We were looking to find a regular sitter for Rudy and hoped Kelly would be a good fit based on our initial interaction but sadly I am not comfortable leaving him with her again.

Our dogs came home happy and clearly enjoyed every minute of their stay with you. Thank you so much for taking such excellent care of our fur babies. We really appreciate the wonderful attention and love you gave them.

I cannot recommend Kelly G. highly enough. Her dedication, responsibility, and genuine love for animals shines through in every interaction. Whether it’s daily walks, feeding, or simply spending quality time, she treat pets with the same care and affection as if they were her own. We’ve always felt completely at ease knowing our furry friend is in her hands—safe, happy, and well-loved. Her reliability and warmth make her an exceptional caregiver, and I’m truly grateful for the peace of mind she provides. Kelly has been involved with animal rescues and fostering animals for over 30 years. She personally provided care for hundreds of stray or foster dogs and cats.

I have been recently laid off from my job. When I did work, I worked various hours or days, but someone is always home. My mom lives in my home and she's retired. Occasionally, someone might be out to go to the store, church or a quick errand. Your dog will follow the routine as my dogs will do. We wake up around 6-7am and make a quick potty break. My dogs know they come back inside after doing their business they get a reward. They must SIT for their rewards. About 8-8:30am they get breakfast. When I fostered, I fed dogs separately because not all dogs like to eat next to others. Some eat slowly, others quickly. So, I would feed your pup separately from mine. Bedtime, for my home is around 9pm. One more quick potty break and then everyone goes to bed. Bedtime has a comfy dog bed or chair - whichever they prefer. I have no need to crate your pup but if that is what they are used to, I do have crates. It will depend on what you tell me and/or what your pup is used to.

My backyard is securely fenced in and ample space for dogs to run around. Throughout the day, I am constantly letting dogs go outside. If it is nice weather, I am in my backyard working in my garden. My dogs are outside with me enjoying the sunshine. Yucky days, we're mostly staying inside. While we are inside, everyone will have the chance to lounge around on either dog beds or my couches. I have leather couches, but I use slipcovers. Knock on wood, of all the foster dogs/cats I have had in my home I have never any furniture destroyed. Now, holes in my yard? Oh, definitely plenty of those but you know what. I am ok with that. I don’t sweat the small stuff. For me, making sure the fur-babies in my home are taken care of. They eat better than I do and will be very loved while you are out of town.

Until I know a dog and vice versa, I would walk them in my backyard. I walk my dog 3 miles a day (depending on weather). But for safety reason, I wouldn't walk your dog until I know them. I can walk them in my backyard or play fetch. If they are not keen on the cold weather, then we can play inside. I have a brand-new fence that is very sturdy but for extra precaution I make sure the gate is locked so any strong winds don't blow open.
