I recently retired from the military and am now dedicating my time and attention to caring for animals--through pet sitting (cats and dogs), dog walking, and boarding (case by case basis for boarding). I have a very flexible schedule due to being retired and can adjust to your needs. If you are looking for in house pet sitting care, I’m happy to discuss the specifics and offer this on a case by case basis.

I am reliable, flexible, and genuinely love animals. If taking care of your dog in my home is a good fit, I have a large home with a securely fenced yard (no holes). This would be on a case by case basis. I have 3 small Shih Tzu dogs (ages 15, 14, and 10) who are friendly. I also have a doggy-door for easy in and out access. I am happy to go to your home and pet sit as needed (check-ins, stay for extended period of time for both cats/dogs). I am extremely conscientious and attentive to the needs of animals, especially during walks. I pay attention to my surroundings including other people walking dogs, curious children, people riding bikes and/or running; I pay close attention to where the dog is walking and what they are doing--I pay attention if there is glass on ground, sharp objects or stickers that can get in their paws and watching for the dog rubbing in or trying to eat other animal feces (I don't know why some like to do this but they do!) I walk my own dogs daily between 1-3 miles depending on the weather and I carry water for them when the temps are higher. I treat other animals the same way I care for my own with a lot of love, patience, understanding, and respect. I am also happy to help with watering flowers, checking the mail, and other simple tasks if you are out of town. I am happy to do a meet and greet and look forward to meeting you.

A typical day
I usually take my own dogs on long walks around the neighborhood (1-3 miles) and have explored various areas of San Antonio to include the Pearl district and Southtown along the Riverwalk. There are many parks as well, if suitable.

Pet care experience
I have had my own cats and dogs for over 40 years, taking care of them from an early age (kittens, puppies) all the way through senior care when they had to take various medications (I have experience giving both cats/dogs medications in pill/tablet form and using a syringe), wore diapers, and experienced various serious medical issues (dementia, kidney disease, collapsed trachea, anxiety). I have taken care of indoor/outdoor cats and dogs of various sizes and breeds (Shih Tzu-Lab-Doberman, for example). I have also rescued dogs for over 10 years--some from being chained up in yards, being lost or abandoned and running alongside a highway, and also from rescue/adoption organizations.

Kelli is so patient and kind with our girls! She spent quite a while trying to win over my nervous dog and adapted the plan for the walk based on what was best for her.

Both of our dogs loved Kelli! She is super attentive and let our dogs be part of her family. She sent us updates on the dogs regularly. Our dogs felt right at home and loved her doggy door. I will totally recommend Kelli to anyone looking for a great person to take care of your pups like if they were her own.
