Safety, trust & environment

I live in an apartment so leashes are crucial. I would never let my own dog off the leash, so I would never put your dog in a situation where something could go wrong. My own dog is quite reactive on the leash, so if I sense that we are approaching a person/dog/object that might trigger her reactivity I usually steer clear of it to avoid any kind of avoidable altercation. I want every dog to feel safe so i will adjust based on what your dog’s body language is telling me.

Information Kelley S. would like to know about your pet

In order to feel comfortable taking care of your pet, I’d like to know if they are high energy and reactive. If they are reactive, I’ll need to know what triggers the them so i can avoid that action. Also any tips or tricks you use for your pet to behave with new people.

A typical day

I will take them on walks if that is how they get their energy out. Or if they prefer to play fetch in the yard that is good too. I also do mental stimulation games. For my own dog, i put treats in a towel ball and let her figure out ways to get to the treats. I can also work on training with the dog if the owner desires. I’d prefer to stick to just tricks though, as i do not want to contradict any training the owner might have been doing for other parts of their lives.

Pet care experience

I myself have a deaf and anxious pup. From her, I have learned how to navigate certain tough situations. I have had to put so much time and effort into her training and am watching her become an amazingly happy and well behaved dog (she even knows a bit of sign language!) I also lost a buddy back in July. He was 14 years old and required medication administration many times a day. With him I learned a lot about helping the old guys feel as happy and safe as possible because they are probably scared of the changes they are experiencing in their lives. I am very active and love going on long walks, so having a dog there would just be an extra bit of fun!

Amazing as always. Helped my big baby of a dog through his worst fear - thunderstorms - when we couldn't be there for him in person.

Kelley took sure good care of my fur baby! She updated me throughout my stay and took great care of the house too. Both me and Kovie could not have asked for a better pet sitter :)
