Awesome sitter

asked me multiple times if i was comfortable leaving my dog with her, to which i replied yes, and then told me to have someone else watch him after i was on my way to another city, meaning i had to have some one come pick him up and take him. will not be using her again.

Kelci was great! She responded quickly and sent pictures throughout her stay!

I feel obligated the leave a review because I would have preferred to be fully informed in order to make the best decision for my pet. I have a dog and because Kelci has high reviews I chose to book my dog’s stay with her. On my page it clearly asks a pet sitter to be available to let my dog out to potty every 2 hours. I had also given her clear instructions on his feeding times. She advertises having a backyard (which is appealing to a pet owner). Her reviews say that she sends pics and gives regular updates on the pet. This was not the case. I had not heard from her and towards the end of the second day I reached out to see how he was doing. The response was short. I did get a picture the following day but it seemed posed and made me more concern because he looked sad. When we returned, I text an hour prior to arriving to her house. She did not respond. When I arrived she was not home. I heard lots of barking (she has several dogs) and my dog’s bark was faint and coming from a back room. I continued texting and even tried to call. No response. A neighbor said she had left over 3 hours prior. At this point it was my dog’s feeding time and she wasn’t there to feed him. We were concerned because she was not there to feed him and had apparently been gone for several hours at this point, so we called the Rover help line. They also tried to contact her but it was unsuccessful. They suggested we come back in an hour to see if she had returned. If she still had not returned, we were asked to call the helpline again for further assistance. So, we drove home (20 minutes away), came back an hour later and she still was not there. We continue to try to call her and text but no response. We called the helpline. They said to wait 4 hours as per their guidelines before they could further assist. This was very frustrating. We could still hear our dog barking but had to leave. Over an hour later she text and said she was at Seaworld and didn’t have her phone with her. She said she could meet us at her place in a hour. She told me she didn’t realize I was coming back at that time. (That’s even more concerning that maybe she didn’t realize she would be caught neglecting the needs of my dog.) When I got my dog, he jumped into the back of our car and seemed scared when she came out because he quickly backed away from the opening and sat very still as if he thought he may have to go back to her house. My dog’s dinner feeding time is between 5:00-5:30pm. It was 8:00pm before we got him and could feed him in the car. He was anxious. He had no urine when given the opportunity to go (so I don’t know how long it had been before he had water to drink). When he drank water, at our home, he acted like it had been days and drank the entire bowl of water frantically. I own a dog because I love my dog. Leaving my dog with a sitter is not an easy thing to do but if I have to, I depend strongly on reviews. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Kelci as a pet sitter. I do, however, want to mention that she did remedy this by saying she would refund $20. She ended up refunding $25. Could leaving my dog unattended for several hours (6hrs. total, if the neighbors were correct) have been a fluke? Yes, maybe. But if you are watching someone else’s pet, you should honor the agreement and then some! We need people of integrity when our pets don’t have a voice.
