Seniors, Smalls, and Special Needs!

Hello! Recently back on Rover after years of privately established clients have since passed on and/or I myself have moved away. I have been in the pet care industry for 10 years and had dogs my whole life. They are my passion! I’ve watched dozens of fur babies over the years and would love to begin again for new clients! I’ve worked at boarding facilities, a dog bar, a training facility and now I am a veterinary technician! I have had and cared for many dogs through the years, but my own two are what I’d call a bit “special” one has a genetic back problem and the other has idiopathic epilepsy. So I’m very familiar with very specific care needs and that’s why I’d be happy to open my home to more special needs and senior dog care! There are some size or energy level restrictions due to my dogs back but I am open to meet and greets for all sized dogs! As you may be able to tell by my photos… I certainly do have a special love for dachshunds as well. 💙 I included some testimonials from my recent non rover clients from when I lived in Charleston SC in my photos as well!

Keanna is a fantastic dog sitter! She finds ways to entertain our highly energetic dogs each time she is there! She not only exercises them physically but mentally as well! Keanna is our go to dog sitter!

Keanna did an awesome job taking care of our two energetic dogs! They warmed up to her right away and we were super impressed with her updates while we were gone. She also brought toys and played with our dogs. They were worn out when we got home and she did everything exactly as we asked! She also left our house exactly as she found it! We were so impressed that we have already booked Keanna for a second weekend!

I am happy to give my most enthusiastic recommendation for Keanna’s employment whether it is as a dog sitter or a dog walker or for a drop-in visit! For the past two years, I have been very happy with Keanna who has provided all three services for me and my dog, Angel. Keanna won me over the very first time she dog-sat for Angel, when Angel was a four-month old puppy. I contracted with Keanna for a 10 hour stay running from the middle of the afternoon to late evening. Keanna came over a few minutes early to get necessary information. At that time, she asked whether or not she could walk Angel. I heartily agree that she could, showed her where the appropriate walking equipment was located, and left for my engagement. About five hours later I got a text from Keanna apologizing for an issue that had occurred on the walk. Angel saw a squirrel and jumped off of the walking path into a muddy ditch. I texted back that it was no problem and that I would give Angel a bath when I returned. Keanna replied that she had already given Angel the bath! I was very impressed that Keanna took the initiative to find the dog shampoo and appropriate towels in their respective cabinets and give Angel a bath. I came home at 11:00 p.m. to find a sleeping (but clean!) puppy, a cleaned bathroom and one towel drying! The first thought that I had when I met Keanna was that she clearly loved dogs and she has reinforced that belief every time she has worked with Angel. Even more importantly, is the fact that Angel loves Keanna! Angel quivers with excitement every time she sees Keanna, greets her enthusiastically, and, then, follows Keanna everywhere! I always return home to a tired happy dog. Keanna has experience with a variety of breeds and sizes having worked at a dog daycare center. In addition, she is the owner of numerous dogs, herself. I quickly learned that I could trust Keanna’s advice about dog issues and now use her as a resource. I have the utmost confidence that Angel is in very safe, capable, and loving care when she is with Keanna. On a personal level, I have found Keanna to be very trustworthy and responsible. She is always a few minute early to meetings with Angel and I and has never cancelled an appointment with us. Similarly, Keanna treats my property as well as she treats Angel, In fact, the only way I can tell that Keanna has been at my place in my absence is that I return to a tired, happy dog. Everything is in the place I left it. I was so impressed with her that after the second time Keanna was a dog sitter for us, I gave her a key to my house. I have never had cause to regret that action and it has made life easier! Prior to meeting Keanna, I had experience with four good dog sitters/walkers. I found Keanna to be an outstanding dog sitter/walker! For the past two years, she is the only one I have used. I am confident that you will also be very pleased with her services.

Schedule

I typically work three 5 hour shifts during the week and two 10 hour shifts with very sparse weekends! Situationally I can also bring your fur baby to work with me and/or come home mid day for potty breaks on the longer days! If given enough time in advanced I can try to cater my work schedule for your pups as well!

Safety, trust & environment

When your pet comes into our home they will be treated as if they are one of our own. I have worked in the boarding setting and have had nightmares happen with my own dogs being in the care of others so I treat each animal as if they were mine. Usually dogs coming into our home are given their own space in a spare room, with or without a kennel depending on preference with their belongings and food so they have their own space. I have been able to accommodate smaller dogs sleeping in our bedroom if that is preferred but it usually depends on the comfort of the dog. We are equipped with ramps for beds and couches and comfy dog beds everywhere. We do have mostly carpet and minimal stairs which is great for our arthritic senior dogs. When it comes to potty breaks it is full preference of the pet parent for them to be on a long line, off leash, or regular leash walk but potty times are very regular!

Pets

A typical day

An acre and a half of non-fenced space means lots of room for playing ball/fetch and baskets of toys to choose from! Additionally I have lots of puzzle games and interactive toys, as well as kong treats! Weather permitting it is a very calm area in suamico where we can take walks along the farm fields! Everyone always leaves tired and happy!

I used to watch dogs of every size, however my dog Oscar had back surgery and has IVDD (a degenerative disk disease due to genetics) and we now have to limit ourselves to smaller or older/low energy dogs due to his back issues. So he can no longer play with larger dogs the way he used to and as much as I’ve loved watching young crazy dogs and pups, we can no longer accommodate this. Additionally it is not a fenced yard, however I have a very long line leash that provides lots of freedom (with supervision of course)! Or just walking on a regular leash is fine as well! It is also to be noted that I live with my boyfriend and we have a close friend that is our roomate as well, so there are boys in the house in case there are any pups that don’t like men! However I will be the sole caretaker of any dog that comes into our home that takes care of feeding, potty breaks, medication, ect. The boys can be here to give extra playtime or scratches if your dog would like but I will be their caretaker! Additionally any medical issues or history is taken into consideration!
