Safety, trust & environment

Safety is a big factor in our home. We have years of learning and perfecting dog introductions when boarding and our dogs are very used to new guests coming in and out. When caring for dogs in my own yard but also when providing care at the owners home I always use safe leash handling skills. We dont have a fence so being aware of open doors and guests coming or going is something our whole home is always mentally aware of and our whole focus is keeping our guests safe.

Home

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard

Information Kayla K. would like to know about your pet

We have lots of experience with slow intros to keep safety at the top of our priorities during a dogs stay. Our home does use a kennel whenever I need to leave for an errand but it's never long. This is to keep all safe. There is plenty of dog friendly beds and toys to make sure there is a comfy spot for all. My older teens like to come home and snuggle a dog on the bed to. Our entire family has experience with scared dogs, medications, medicated baths, eye drops, ear drops. You name it!

A typical day

Up at about 7am. Outside immediately for initial potty breaks. We like to cuddle for coffee time and have breakfast about 8am. I work on my computer for a few hours in the morning while the dogs lounge. If I have to run any errands guest dogs typically are kenneled while out to keep everyone safe but they are never long periods of time. Mid-morning to afternoon is when walks happen. We have a pretty quiet road and gorgeous yard so that space keeps us busy. The gated backyard deck is a great space for the dogs to absorb outside noises and smells but safely gated.

Pet care experience

For the last 21 years our home has collected experience with animals with the focus on safety and specialty care. I worked as a vet tech the first half of my careers life. The last 10 years or so I've worked lightly as a tech but also as a foster coordinator with a major rescue. I help teach new fosters how to safely manage, handle and even train dogs new to a home and make sure they know ways to keep there dog safe. Our home specializes in those that need extra understanding, health care or time to settle in. We are not fostering at the moment so we only have our resident dogs in home.

So good to my little pup and he can be a handful so I would 100% recommend her to anyone!
