Safety, trust & environment

I am all too familiar with the challenges that encompass having a stranger enter your home when you have dogs. I like to prepare for my visits by first doing a meet and greet in neutral territory so that your dog may get to know me and my energy. Then, I do a home visit with you at home so that your pet can get used to me being in the house at least once. When I do make my visit without you there, I am always watchful for door dashers and escape artists. I also enter without making a big deal that I am there so your pet stays calm.

A typical day

It is very important to me that your pet is not only physically stimulated but mentally as well! Having two working breeds myself, I know it is not just a walk around the block that can tire them out. I have a few mind games in my arsenal that I love to play with my clients to keep them guessing and thinking while I do my visit!

Pet care experience

Thank you for considering me for the care of your pet. Personally, I am a firefighter wife who works inpatient physical therapy as my main career. I love to exercise and be outdoors with my two dogs, Harper and Georgia. As a lifelong dog owner and now professional dog trainer, I’ve been blessed to share my life with many animals. I know how hard it is to find someone you trust completely with your pets. That’s why I joined Rover: to offer the kind of loving, professional, and personalized care I always desired for my own dogs, but could never really find. Safety, communication, and transparency are my main goals when taking care of your animals. I have a unique set of skills that allows me to be one of the more trustworthy and legitimate sitters on this platform. My prices reflect the quality of care you get when you book with me. I do not just book any client. I have over 20 years of experience caring for animals, both personally and professionally. I’ve worked at several doggy daycare and boarding facilities, where I gained hands-on experience with dogs of all temperaments and energy levels. During that time, I completed training with PetTech for Pet First Aid & CPR. I began studying dog training 2 years ago to better understand canine behavior. I am now a professional dog trainer and specialize in puppies. I am highly skilled and well qualified when it comes down to finding someone who doesn't just do this as a side hustle, because I know we have all seen the horror stories. Currently, I work part-time, which allows me to be flexible, but I still value a well in-advance notice of when you will need care. This is my passion and I hope to pursue a full-time career in the pet care industry as soon as I am able. ***I do not judge the tools you may choose or not choose to use with your pets. This includes e-collars, prongs, slip leads etc. I am familiar with these tools and do not have a problem using them if it is what works for your pet.

Kayla was so great! She came to meet us before her first visit and took time to meet my dogs and sit and talk with our family. I’ve always been hesitant to hire a dog sitter as my dogs can be difficult, but she was a pro. My timid, fearful big guy even took to her:) Highly recommend:)

This is our second time booking with Kayla and I felt so comfortable knowing Poki was safe in her care! She always made sure his needs were met and provided the best updates. I came back to a very happy dog thanks to her :) Will book her again!
