I am a social worker by trade but currently only working part time and my partner, Kory, works full time from home. I am pretty flexible with my schedule right now and would love to work with you to find a routine that works for everyone.

I live in a two bedroom apartment with no other pets. I have plenty of space to bring your pet's favorite scratching posts, beds, toys, etc. My complex has an on site dog park, lots of open green space and it borders a park with a ton of walking trails. I’m comfortable using crates for dogs and helping with many types of special needs for both cats and dogs.

In order to provide the best care possible, I would like to know as much as I can about your fur baby. I would like to know if they have any dietary restrictions, any unique needs during the day and / or night, comfort level with other people/children/cats/dogs and one or two of their favorite things. For dogs specifically, I would also like to know their comfort level both on and off leash (in gated area) and anything they are still working on (ie a puppy who may have accidents in the home).
A typical day
Depending on your pets likes, dislikes and comfort level, the activities that I like to do vary. For dogs: I love to take walks around the neighborhood and on paths. If your dog is friendly with other dogs, is trained and has experience at the dog park, I enjoy playing fetch at the park. For cats: Depending on your cats personality, I can be playful cozy or cautious during our time together. I love to play or have a conversation of meows but can also just be a slow and steady presence.

Hey I’m Makayla! I live in Lakewood with my partner, Kory, and would love to meet your pet! I have no pets in my home right now. I worked with Rover some years ago in my home state of Massachusetts. I really enjoyed it then and have been looking forward to when I had some spare time to do it again. I am working part time now and Kory works full time from home which provides flexibility. I have been surrounded by pets since I was a child and I have helped to care for friends and family’s pets for several years. I can walk, feed, care for, host and visit both dogs and cats with various sets of needs. I have experience with puppies and kittens as well as elderly or special needs pets.

Kayla was, in a word, AWESOME. We reached on very short notice because we couldn’t get into a boarding facility & she was available & willing to take our fur babies for the weekend. This was my first time EVER boarding my cats & I have had cats all my life, so I was pretty anxious about it. She gave us updates & sent pics & I could tell my fur babies were doing alright. Being able to “board” them with her was so much better than being in a facility. Thank you, Kayla. If we have to do this again, you will be our first choice every time!!!

Our pup is an old, mostly blind and deaf Chihuahua who needs a little special treatment; Kayla was great with her. She communicated well with us, and she was also very considerate--she asked how our dog did with other dogs and when we said she wasn't great she volunteered to not take any other dogs for the weekend. We'll be calling her again should the need arise!
