Peace of Mind While You’re Away

👋 Hi there! We’re Kayla & Connor, a pet-loving couple based in the Galveston area. I (Kayla) grew up in Conroe, TX, and moved to Galveston Area here in 2019 to be closer to family. Together, we’ve built a warm, laid-back home where your pets will be treated like one of our own. I work from home, so your furry family member will get plenty of love, attention, and snuggles throughout the day. We also have two kids under 5 who are gentle and adore animals, plus two friendly dogs—Charlie (our playful Husky) and Cooper (German Shepard) and my sons new dog, Buddy (terrier mix)—who love making new friends. Between the two of us, we have experience caring for a wide range of animals, including cats, dogs, horses, goats, turtles, snakes and more. We understand how tough it can be to leave your pet behind when you travel, which is why we aim to create a safe, happy space where they can feel right at home. We’d love to meet you and your pet to see if we’re the perfect fit. Looking forward to giving your furry loved one lots of care and affection while you’re away!

Kayla and Connor kept our mini-dachshund, Slinky, for 8 days while we were on a cruise. At first we were very pleased. They sent pictures and updates daily and he seemed to be doing well with their kids and other dogs. But when we picked him up at the end of the cruise, we noticed that he had lost a considerable amount of weight (considerable for him - he weighed 7.2 pounds when we dropped him off and weighed less than 5 pounds when we picked him up 8 days later). We asked if he had not been eating well but we were told that they fed him twice a day and he devoured it every time. We had taken 17 individual packets of food (2 a day for 8 days plus 1 extra just in case). He came back with 10 packets left meaning they only fed him 7 (3.5 ounce) packets over the 8 days. I can't figure out how to attach pictures but I do have some that show how you could see his ribs and spine. I also have a picture of him wearing his collar showing how loose it was when it had fit previously. He also had no voice left from barking. Kayla had told me that he had barked a lot for a few days which we attributed to him missing us and wanting more attention. I now believe he was barking because he was hungry (and missing us). He also had fleas which he did not have when we dropped him off. Fortunately, he had no lasting damage. He has already started gaining his weight back and his voice recovered after a few days, but for these reasons, I would not recommend Kayla and Connor to watch your pets.

Kayla & Connor watched our dear Hudson, a male Pomeranian for 11 days while we went on a cruise. I personally didn’t feel he’d do well in a kennel for that long of a period of time. So I opted for Hudson to live in their home. They treated him just like family. I brought Hudson a day prior to meet the family & their 3 dogs to ensure they all mesh well together. Yep! The 4 dogs got along really well & became friends quickly. They sent picture updates of Hudson ensuring his safety, wellbeing and overall mental health was doing great and he was chilling out with Connor watching tv or hanging out. He acclimated really quickly surprisingly. He ate, slept and played. I don’t believe he really barked because he came home super chill and didn’t bark even when excited to play fetch. His energy is super calm. So I can tell the overall experience was Positive! Yay for everyone! I Highly recommend Kayla & Connor for your dog family. Hudson is like a son to me, I wouldn’t recommend him if it wasn’t a fabulous experience. They even accepted my request last minute, as a local friend backed out last minute. Rover.com is great as well.. it was my first time using it. Thank you Rover.com and Kayla & Connor!! I truly appreciate your time, energy, patience & love you put into our precious pooch! 🐶🐾 I’m sure Hudson will miss your family & will always remember his new friends he made here in Texas. As new residents.. this was a really wonderful welcome! 🤠 Ginelle

Schedule

Pet care fits perfectly into our family’s daily routine. I (Kayla) work from home full-time, which means I’m here throughout the day to give your pet plenty of attention, potty breaks, and companionship. I usually leave once a day to pick up our oldest from school, but I’m home 95% of the time to make sure your pet feels safe and cared for. My husband works outside the home, but he’s just as involved in loving on and helping care for all the animals when he’s here. Together, we make sure your pet gets the best care possible, just like a member of our family

Safety, trust & environment

In our home, your pet will enjoy a spacious backyard with a secure fence — something that’s especially important to us since we have our own little escape artist! We always keep a close eye to ensure everyone’s safe while getting plenty of fresh air and playtime. Potty breaks can be with our dogs or separately, depending on what makes your pet most comfortable. Inside, we make sure pets can relax just like they would at home. We take the time to learn your pet’s usual routine — from feeding schedules to favorite nap spots — so we can keep things as familiar and stress-free as possible. Whether it’s my husband and I caring for pets here, or me following your pet’s routine in your own home, our priority is always to treat them like family and give them the love, attention, and calm environment they deserve.

Pets

A typical day

We love making sure pets have a great time while they’re with us! If your dog enjoys socializing, they’ll have a blast playing with our own friendly pups in the yard. With your permission, we’re also happy to take them on walks for some extra exercise and sniffing adventures. Inside, we keep the fun going with toys, treat time, and lots of pets and belly rubs. Whether it’s energetic play or cozy cuddle time, we’re here to keep your pet happy, entertained, and feeling right at home — all while making your life a little easier.

• Are they house trained? • Do they try to hop or dig out of fences? (Our oldest dog is an escape artist, so we totally understand!) • Are they comfortable around kids? • Is there anything that spooks them, like fireworks, sirens, or loud noises? When they hear these are they destructive? Should we put them in a kennel? Leave them out? Sit with them? Any information is great! • Are there spots they don’t like being touched? • Most importantly: What can we do to make their stay as stress-free and happy as possible?
