Pet care experience

Safe, Reliable, Loving Pet Care

I've taken care of dogs and cats since I was 5 years old. My family had many many pets growing up. We had 3 different dogs and 8 different cats. I have had 2 dogs of my own and 2 cats of my own. About a decade ago, I opened a grooming, boarding, and dog walking business. It was amazing and I loved every second of it. Unfortunately, a few years ago my partner in that business and in life at one point passed away unexpectedly. I didn't pursue keeping the business open after that. I ended up working with dogs and going to clients houses throughout the years and I am currently opening another business and I have a groomer that is the co-owner of the business. I have experience training puppies, rescues, and older dogs. I use positive reinforcement, clicker training, food/treat based training, exposure therapy, and multiple other methods. I also make homemade treats for my dogs and my clients that are much better for pets than the overly processed treats that are usually carried in stores.

Kayla was able to work with our last minute schedule and she was great with our dogs! Spoiled them rotten and sent us lots of pictures which we were out of town. She is great at communicating and keeping us updated. I would definitely recommend her.

Kayla is excellent with pet care. She has 2 dogs that she has rescued. She regularly works on training. She makes videos to help other dog parents. And, even though she has a fenced yard that her dogs can run around, she still walks them several times a day. Kayla loves and protects all animals.

I am currently going to school online and building my pet care business. I have complete control over my schedule right now and have plenty of time for pet care!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a home and have a fenced in yard. I always allow potty breaks every 0-2hrs and offer walks every 2-4hrs. I live in a small community that is right across the street from a HUGE field and many paths for dog walks and every client I've had LOVES it! I also have a special bathing setup for animals in my home if their owners would like bathing and/or grooms. I have a grooming table in the house in a special room and a groomer on-call at all times. I have multiple bedrooms, beds, dog beds, crates, couches, and more! Dogs are welcome everywhere but always in the same area as I am and not left alone. Safety is my number one priority! I want every dog's experience with us to be amazing and safe and reliable for the owner. I also am able to send updates and pictures and anything a pet owner/pet parent requests! The wellbeing of the dog is the priority. I also have access to a special location 20 minutes from my house with hiking paths, beaches, and fun environments to bring dogs for special experiences if owner wants that for their pup during their stay with us.

Pets

A typical day

I would start the day with taking the dogs for a 30min-1hr walk unless the pet's parents/owners specify wanting something else, then I would bring the dog home and feed them, maybe use a puzzle or slow feeder to feed them to stimulate their brain and make it fun, afterwards I'd sit on the floor or couch with them and give them pets and snuggles, after that I'd get some dog toys to play with them with, I'm sure at some point they will take a nap and I'll work on my work and school on my laptop. Later, I will then take them on another 30min-1hr walk, I may even drive them to my parent's community which has beaches and hiking trails and a river/lake and I'd bring treats and my clicker to practice skills and fun activities, I also have portable water bowls for the dogs to drink out of on extended trips. Another activity some dogs like, is car rides and if the dog(s) do I will take them in my car for a little ride(I have multiple dog harnesses and dog seatbelts for the car ride and safety first), after taking them out I'd take them back home and play and then feed them dinner, after that I'd likely watch a movie with them then do a few more walks and playing with toys throughout the night and then bed. I'd also form those things to include any schedule the parent/owner wants.
