Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. I work five nights a week in the evenings, so I’m available throughout the day for walks, feedings, playtime, check-ins, and outdoor adventures. My evening work hours are my only consistent time constraint. Because of this schedule, I’m able to give pets plenty of attention, structure, and companionship during the day, and I plan my commitments carefully to make sure each pet receives reliable, attentive care. I prioritize maintaining pets’ normal routines so they feel comfortable and well cared for while their owners are away.

When caring for pets in my home or a client’s home, my top priorities are safety, consistency, and trust. I follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any specific instructions provided by the owner, to help pets feel comfortable and secure while their humans are away. In a client’s home, I treat the space with respect and maintain a clean, calm environment. I ensure doors, gates, and leashes are secure, keep pets away from any potential hazards, and always double-check that pets are safely inside before leaving. I’m very mindful of pets’ individual temperaments, energy levels, and boundaries, especially with puppies, seniors, or animals that may need extra care. I have experience with multi-pet households and animals of all ages and backgrounds, and I’m comfortable administering medications if needed. I provide regular updates and photos so owners feel at ease, and I’m always reachable in case of questions or concerns. My goal is for pets to feel safe, loved, and relaxed, and for owners to feel confident knowing their animals and home are in good hands.

A typical day
A typical day is centered around keeping pets happy, exercised, and comfortable. Depending on the pet’s age, energy level, and routine, our days may include morning walks, outdoor time, play sessions, and plenty of attention and affection. I love getting dogs outside for fresh air—whether that’s neighborhood walks, relaxed hikes, longer hikes, dog park, or time at the lake/river.

Pet care experience
Hello! I’ve been pet and animal sitting for about 15 years and truly love every aspect of caring for animals. I’ve lived in Breckenridge for the past 12 years and spend much of my time outdoors hiking and enjoying the mountains—something I love sharing with active pups. I work five days a week in the evenings (roughly 4–10 PM), which would be my only scheduling constraint. Outside of those hours, I’m fully available and attentive. I have experience staying in clients’ homes for both short- and long-term sits, including stays of up to 18 days, and I’m happy to provide references from previous clients upon request. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. My mom has run a rescue group for as long as I can remember, so I grew up caring for animals of all kinds and temperaments. In addition to dogs, I have experience looking after cats, horses, donkeys, fish, and other animals, and I’m comfortable with pets of all ages, from puppies and kittens to seniors. We left a key out for Kayla, she let herself in and introduced herself to our not always friendly Havanese dog. She quickly made friends, took him for a walk, sent us pictures and was quick to answer text messages. House and dog were great. Thank you Kayla!
This was the first time I have used Rover and that is how I found Kayla. She stayed in my home for two nights to take care of my cat and dog. She did a great job and my pets loved her. She was good about keeping me informed as to how things were going and sent pictures so that I would know they were doing well. The house was in good order when I returned. I would be pleased to call upon Kayla again for my pet sitting needs.
