Safety, trust & environment
I’m happy to follow whatever instructions you have for your individual dog! Everyone’s needs are slightly different. I’m familiar with most dog gear and am happy to harness up your pooch. Also with summer coming there are times where it might be too warm to go for a walk on certain surfaces. Depending on time of day I will require pet parents are open to alternate activities that fulfill needs without hurting paws.
Information Katy H. would like to know about your pet
Please provide me with any details you think are important to share about your pet! Here are some things to include: - What is their typical behavior on walks - Are they dog reactive - Can they eat treats/ do they have any allergies - Are you working on anything you want me to be aware of so I can keep up any in-progress training - Their favorite part of a walk!
A typical day
Each dog I walk currently gets a slightly different experience depending on their needs and feasibility. I LOVE walking dogs on long leashes and can provide one myself if the environment is safe to use one. My clients that get this option enjoy more freedom of movement and typically get in 2x as many steps as me. I also enjoy treat hunting in the grass- especially for senior dogs, injured dogs, or for dogs on hot days when we can’t walk as far to provide a different activity that can still activate their nose and brain. Mainly I want this to be a time your dog can be a dog and enjoy the sights and smells around them. If they are a people dog of course I will also be providing them with pets! With all dogs I do not interact with other dogs (and often people) while on a walk for safety, because of this I typically work with dogs to walk by people and dogs without much fuss or cross the road to give extra space. I typically end a walk with a treat for a job well done!

Dog Trainer/Walker; Adventure Ready
Pet care experience
I trained dogs of all ages (mostly young dogs, but seniors too!) for almost 8 years at Petco. I volunteered to walk shelter dogs at Oregon Humane Society and took a bunch of their dog handling classes. I have a ton of leash walking experience and confidence! I’m happy to work with dogs that are still learning to walk nicely and dogs that just need to get outside and enjoy the smells.
