Animal Loving Family in Orleans!

In the last 3 years, we have boarded over 5 dogs of our friends which ranged from new puppies to senior dogs. We love animals (almost more than people lol!) and we take care of them like they're our kids. We have taught our children to love animals as well and are incorporating them in the daily tasks and responsibilities of taking care of their own pets. Our 3 year old daughter loves to feed our dog Bailey and loves throwing treats to our cat Booboo :) We allow pets on our beds and couches which they all seem to love. They only live a short life so why not make it comfortable for them?! Our own dog loves a good snuggle with the dogs we've boarded; so much so that we have often contemplated getting a second dog for her to have a permanent friend. Unfortunately, it's just not the right time for us to own a second dog, however, Rover is a great opportunity for us to have the best of both worlds by pet sitting other dogs and helping people out in need during their vacations and time away from home. We are new to Rover which is why we don't have testimonials, but we are looking to building up our repertoire by earning your trust!

It’s not easy to trust someone with your furry kid but we feel very fortunate to have found Katrine and her family. They took really good care of our Golden Retriever and you can tell they are extremely caring and wonderful human being. Our dog got multiple long walks and lots of love and playtime. Katrine even sent us pictures and videos of our pup to comfort us. We recommend Katrine to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet caregiver.

We have an older dog that is a bit particular with whom she spends her time. The first time we entrusted Katrine our dog returned super happy. The next time, our dog ran full of excitement, directly to see her. Katrine and her spouse are great people. We trust them entirely, that our dog will be attended to and cared for with kindness and professionalism.

I’ve known Katrine for years and can confidently say she is an amazing pet owner and caregiver. She has a dog named Bailey who is incredibly well-loved and cared for, and it’s obvious how much Kat loves animals. She has also looked after my two dogs on several occasions, and I always feel completely at ease leaving them in her care. Katrine is responsible, patient, attentive, and treats every pet like family. Any pet would be lucky to spend time with her, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving caregiver.

Schedule

Between 5:30am and 6:30am: Every single morning our dog gets a walk before my husband and I go to work. Between 12pm and 1:00pm: I work from home twice per week (Thursdays and Fridays) so our dog gets a second walk during my lunch hour. Between 4:00pm and 5:30pm: Our kids love being outside so after work we always take them outside (weather permitting of course) and our Bailey girl joins us for a third walk/outside play. We either go for a walk in the neighborhood, a play at one of the many local parks, or hang out in our fenced in backyard. Our backyard is fenced so if our dog and cat want to lounge in the sunshine while I work, they can (and they love it!). When I work at the office our dog can hold her bladder in until we get home from work (8 hours). However, we understand that not all dogs can do that, so this is why we can board Thursdays through to Sundays since those are the days I am home.

Safety, trust & environment

Our pets were our first kids. We had them both before our actual children and we love them just as much. They have always been a priority for us and will continue to be until their final days. Only my family come to feed our cat if we are away and we are lucky to have a good friend take care of our dog when we leave for a short vacation (which is very rare). We only trust a few people to care of our fur babies as we want them to receive the same treatment and routine as they receive at home. We will treat your animal like our own and hope to develop a great relationship with them for future play dates, boarding needs, and walking needs.

Pets

A typical day

Weekdays during my lunch break or after work we would likely go for a walk in the bush near my house. I live by the Ottawa river bike path so we often walk our own dog there. I will run with your dog if it's high energy or I can saunter and let them get their slow sniffs in for a slower dog. My dog can adapt very easily to either or type of dogs. She loves a good run as much as a good sniff. We will play with balls and/or we will lay on the backyard deck and nature watch all the critters that are in our fenced in backyard. We have no backyard neighbors other than critters like squirrels, chipmunks, birds, deer and even gophers that your dog can watch while I work at home. At night they will get the ultimate cuddles while we watch our show on the couch and in bed while reading our books before bedtime. Our dog has her own dog bed which she sleeps on, but she always starts on our bed for some pets and snuggles.

I have no experience with special needs dogs so I would avoid these types as I want to provide the best care for your dog. We have boarded puppies and senior dogs in the past so we have the necessary experience for that. We won't be boarding puppies at this time as they are rarely potty trained and it's too much work while I work and with 2 little kids. Senior dogs are welcome! If they have any medical issues we just ask to let us know ahead of time. We'd like to know their routine ahead of time as well before deciding on boarding or not to ensure we will be capable of taking care of them as they deserve to be taken care of.
