Pet care experience

I treat your critters like my own!

I give your pets attention and affection, keeping them comfortable while you’re away. I send pictures most days to assure you all is well. My services include house-sitting, so your pets stay home where they’re comfortable. I have decades of experience with a variety of breeds. Let’s talk about what worries you and we’ll find a solution everyone is happy with! I’d prefer to visit your pets before securing the booking, to make sure we all get along.

Safety, trust & environment

I have been house/pet sitting for decades. I treat your home as if I was a welcome guest, but not a part of the household. Over the years, I’ve had jobs where I was bonded for security, which means I have a clean record. I’ve been entrusted with confidential & proprietary information. I’ve adhered to HIPAA rules without breaking a sweat. I am trustworthy and friendly. I have a silly sense of humor and have skewed streaming algorithms with binging scifi. I’ve lived in the extremes of rural to urban environments. I can greet & thank people in ten languages. My idea of a party is a bowl of ice cream and a movie (sci-fi, British drama). Before we book anything, I’d like to stop by the house and give the critter(s) a chance to get a good look/smell of me and you can give me the lay of the land. Housesitting: I’m being hired to keep the critter(s) company, and that’s what I do. Nana comes to visit and keeping the house safe and the animal(s) safe and happy is my primary duty. My habit is to bring my own supplies, so when you get home, everything is how you left it. I have a ukulele and I sing familiar covers, so I’ll mention it now in case the neighbors mention something about it. (I have yet to have a dog howl as I sang, though the huskies were very talkative.) Drop-In: Depending on our discussion during the Meet & Greet, I will swing by your house according to the schedule we’ve set up. I will make sure the water is fresh and the food bowl has plenty of food. (My job is to make sure the animal(s) know they are being cared for and that they don’t have to stress about whether or not they will starve to death - I’m thinking of cats especially here who see the bottom of the food bowl and start to panic. Not on my watch!) Walk: I’ll be at your house at the time(s) we’ve discussed, put on the collar and leash, and set out on the adventure. My habit is to sing as I walk so that any other critter has a chance to get out of sight - a lesson learned by startling a skunk. It is important that I know if the neighborhood is friendly or if folks keep to themselves. Do(es) the dog(s) visit friends on the trail? or should I keep them on their own?

We felt really comfortable with Nana Kat staying in our home and carrying for our two dogs. She sent photos and updates daily, and even checked in with us to make sure we arrived home safely and that the dogs were taken care of. The house and the dogs were in perfect order when we returned. We would definitely hire her again!

Kat did a great job watching Lucca again over an extended period! She sent lots of pictures and communicated very well. She also knew that Lucca liked puzzles after her last time watching her, and brought one of her own so she could try a new one! Thanks Kat!!

Kat was amazing at house & pet sitting. She was very communicative, sent pics and updates appropriately, and left our pets happy and home just as it was before she arrived. I highly recommend her!

Kat did a wonderful job caring for Lucca and the house over a long weekend. She clearly cares deeply about animals and really tried to understand Lucca's needs before and during her stay. Lucca often takes a while to warm up to people, but seemed to feel comfortable with Kat very quickly. Lucca seemed happy, and the house seemed very well cared for, after her stay. She sent lots of pictures and stayed in touch the whole time. Highly recommended!!

Schedule

I am self employed and pet care is one of the ways I earn my living. I also work remotely for some of my clients and use the wi-fi to get tasks done.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Katrina "Kat" can host up to 2 drop-ins per day
If I am walking the doggo(s) then I need to know if they usually interact with other dogs, or if I need to keep them separate. I have walked dogs on friendly trails, where they visit their trail pack; and I have walked in neighborhoods where folks don’t engage like that (I’m terribly awkward in those environments because I spent some of my formative years in the rural South, and so my first instinct is to say hello.) I am not above offering dogs treats as bribes as they get to know me, so let me know what kind of treats are allowed. Can I give them peanut butter? string cheese? pizza crust? Do they sleep with you? If so, I try to give them that comfort while I’m in your house.
