I do work a full-time job outside of the home. During the day, I am a certified personal trainer and health/wellness expert. I am able to complete some work at home, but I often need to leave during the day. Although I am not home all day, my schedule usually allows for drop-in visits for walks, playtime, and relaxation. Once my workday is finished, I typically find refuge with your pets in your home.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety is a high priority. I’m careful when entering and leaving your home to avoid escape artists. When we’re out for walks, I use a hands-free leash that wraps around my waist for extra security. I also double-check that all windows and doors are locked, the garage door is closed, candles are blown out, the oven is off, etc. to avoid any mishaps.
Information Katie W. would like to know about your pet
I love to know about quirks your animals have, especially if it is unusual behavior. Please let me know if your animal has bumps, bruises, scraps, or any other physical "abnormalities". This will help to ease my worries about seeking veterinary care.
A typical day
Under my care, your dogs will receive a lot of exercise, if needed. I am very active; I love to walk, run, hike, and explore. Occasionally I take my overnight dogs with me when walking my other clients (only if all dogs are even-tempered). I love to play fetch, tug-of-war, “find it”, and other enriching activities. I may use treats or kibble to practice a few commands, too. If your dog prefers to cuddle, I can easily settle into the couch with a book.

Trusted, reliable, kind, & tidy
Pet care experience
I have been a freelance Rover sitter since graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Biology. During my college career, I volunteered at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium and a science museum (COSI) where my passion for animals grew. As a sitter, I have cared for many animals (cats, dogs, and a few oddballs). Specifically, I have cared for labs, retrievers, German Shepherds, bulldogs (French and English), doodles, Pitbulls, doxies, chihuahuas, and many more. I don’t have breed limits; however, I prefer dogs less than 100 lbs as I want to make sure I can lift them in case of emergency. If your animal has special needs, please let me know how I can best accommodate you. I have experience injecting and orally administering medication. My clients continue to use my services because I am trustworthy, reliable, mature, genuine, smart, considerate, and tidy. I also have pet care insurance to give you extra peace of mind. I treat your home and animals how I would treat my own (very well by the way; I’m pretty organized). I currently have one cat, but she’s easy and still gives me plenty of time to spoil your pets. I would love to take your dog on walks around the park, city, or neighborhood. However, I can easily switch gears to a more relaxed lifestyle if your dog prefers a laid-back environment. My fluid personality allows me to get along with most people and animals. Before my final check-out, I tend to clean up after myself and help tidy where I can. I want you to come home to relax and not spend time cleaning up after me. While housesitting, I will show your home the utmost respect. I will never do anything to violate your privacy or give you cause for concern. I am here to care for your animals, home, and plants so you can enjoy your trip without apprehension. I currently offer walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays in your home. I do not offer dog boarding, however, some of my clients are okay with extra dogs in their homes. If all parties agree and all dogs get along, I could potentially watch multiple dogs under one roof. I am almost always available for walks and drop-in visits, however, my overnight calendar fills quickly. Walks are usually 30 minutes long, however, longer walks are available for an additional rate. Drop-in visits are at least 30 minutes. I usually replace food and water, take dogs out for a short walk, give medication (if applicable), and do cat care. Overnight stays include all of the above, plus general housekeeping (take out the trash, water plants, pick up mail/deliveries, etc). Some of my personal hobbies include: traveling, reading, re-learning Spanish, bouldering, weightlifting, cooking, astrology (amongst other woo-woo stuff), watching and continually submitting casting tapes for CBS’s “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race”, and drinking coffee. Tips/gifts are gratefully accepted, but unnecessary. The best "tips" are rebooking with me, referring me to your friends/family, and/or leaving a stellar review. If you truly insist, I prefer gift cards (Costco, Trader Joe's, coffeehouses, VISA, etc.) or cash. Although my rates are set, I would be happy to work within your budget. Discrimination of any kind is intolerable. I value all my clients regardless of our differences. Please let me know if there are any questions I can help answer or concerns you may have.

Reviews

Katie is great and does a wonderful job at taking care of our pets!

Katie was absolutely wonderful! She took great care of our two dogs and cat while we were away. The photos she sent showed everyone completely relaxed and happy, which gave us so much peace of mind. We also came home to a tidy house, which we really appreciated. Highly recommend Katie if you’re looking for someone reliable and caring to watch your pets!

Katie watched our cats for a few days and was great!

Katie was great with our two dogs. She was communicative and the boys were happy pups when we arrived home. We will for sure be booking with her again!
