About Scupper

Scupper is our resident comedian. He has a hilarious personality, and an innate ability to make himself comfortable wherever he is! Scupper generally spends about 57% of his day trying to procure snuggles or following the humans around, 23% napping, 12% trying to lay down to nap as close to his brother as possible, 7% playing with toys and 1% eating his dinner as fast as he can.

  • Sex: Male
  • Age: 3 years, 6 mo. old
  • Weight: 23lbs
  • Breed: Dachshund & Jack Russell Terrier
  • Tracking Chip: Yes
  • Neutered: Yes
  • House Trained: Yes
  • Gets along with children: Yes
Scupper is loved by our niece and nephew (elementary schoolers) and has had his ears tugged and nose sucked (yes, you read that right) by our neighbors toddler. He has done very well with these children, and has gotten many pettings from kids on walks and around the neighborhood.
  • Gets along with other dogs: No
Scupper is a social dude. He loves being in the company of other dogs, and loves to play and snuggle. Although he loves other pups, he can be food aggressive in some circumstances, so he is always fed in his crate. Scupper is quite vocal around other dogs and it's not unusual for him to bark and growl a bit at first meeting. But once introductions have been made, he's happy to have a new friend!
  • Gets along with cats: No

Special Requirements

A skilled counter surfer, and taco steeler. No food is safe, unless it's up (very) high, in the fridge or behind a closed door! He is most talented at snatching food directly from your hand as you are raising it to your mouth. Consider yourself warned!

About Journey

Journey is the best dog in the world! He was my catalyst from kid to grown up (I adopted him from Triangle Beagle Rescue right after I graduated from college), and he has a very special place in my heart. He is super sweet and very snugly. He loves his brother Scupper, although not as exuberantly as Scupper loves him! Scupper has no qualms with butting Journey out of the way to get some head scratches or steal some kisses. Because Journey gets cheated out of a good amount of pettings due to his brother, so we try to make time for Journey throughout the day to get some quality snuggles. Journey has a history of herniated disks, so we try to limit unnecessary jumping, and excessively long walks...but he LOVES the chance to stretch his legs for walks that are less than 30 minutes or so. In general, Journeys ideal day would be to lay in a sunny spot for about 23 hours, with the other hour comprised of short walks and dinner time. He may be getting to be an old man, but he is the best boy, and deserves all the loving he can get!

  • Sex: Male
  • Age: 11 years old
  • Weight: 25lbs
  • Breed: Beagle
  • Tracking Chip: Yes
  • Neutered: Yes
  • House Trained: Yes
  • Gets along with children: Yes
Journey is the most child friendly dog I've even met. He's the best, and kids love his velvet ears!
  • Gets along with other dogs: Yes
Journey tends to like to be around people more than other dogs. Although he has dog friends (and a dog brother who loooooooooves him!) he can get overwhelmed and picked on in a dog-heavy environment.
  • Gets along with cats: Yes
One of Journeys first friends was a gigantic MaineCoon cat. Because of this, he usually assumes all cats are going to be friendly...which is not always the case. Because of this he has gotten a few good swats from kitty's that didn't want to be his friend.

Special Requirements

History of herniated disks, so rough play, extra longs walks, being picked up and big jumps need to be limited for Journey.
