SMALL DOGS ONLY! Stay-at-home-mom!

New to Rover, but not new to dog sitting! I’ve been a dog owner since 2015 and I’ve dog sat for over 100 families, with many repeat clients. I love it! We treat our guest doggies like part of the family! ****Please read this section before you send a request: Dogs must be spayed/neutered, fully house-trained, non-shedding or minimally-shedding, and good with small children and other small dogs. *Dogs must be used to sleeping in a crate at home or at minimum on their own dog bed.* If they are accustomed to sleeping in owner’s bed, they will whine all night at my house because we don’t allow dogs in our bed. If your dog can be described as feisty or aggressive, or if they nip at dogs or people, please don’t send me a request. No dogs that bark excessively or bite. Dogs barely over the 15 lb limit are perfectly fine. All of my clients are small, so if your dog is scared of big dogs, they will be fine here! **** Owners must be okay with my husband (who works from home) watching the dogs and taking them out to go potty when I have to run errands or take the kids to the zoo. *Dogs must be well-groomed (preferably with a sanitary area shave) and up to date on vaccines before boarding. If your dog hasn’t been groomed in 3 months, make sure to get them groomed before coming! We love senior dogs but no longer take them due to increased likelihood of incontinence. We are able to administer medication but won’t force it, so your dog must take their meds without needing their jaw forced open. Our favorite breeds to host: Yorkie Shih Tzu Maltipoo (Maltese poodle mix) Toy/mini poodle Bichon frise Havanese Miniature Schnauzer Mini goldendoodle Cockapoo Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Or any mixture of these breeds We’d love to watch your dog!

Katie is the absolute best person to watch our dog! We have boarded with her multiple times. She is extremely loving, attentive and caring. We get daily videos and pictures of her taking our pup on fun walks. It feels like our dog is also at a luxurious vacation and we are not worried about her at all. Thank you for being the best at what you do Katie.

I would highly recommend Katie for dog sitting/boarding. She is super sweet and did a phenomenal job with my boy Louie. She sent me lots of photo updates through out the day. She is now my go to dog sitter if I ever need someone to watch my dog.

Schedule

I’m a stay-at-home mom, and my husband works from home too, so someone is always here to take the dogs out to go potty! I do this full-time so I can afford to stay at home with my kids. The dogs usually chill with us in the living room, play with my kids in the backyard, or nap on the bed in my husband’s office. We walk the pups once a day, weather permitting.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a 3 and 5-year-old who both love dogs and know how to be gentle with them. They’ve loved every pup we’ve watched and miss them when they leave. We have a Maltipoo who is always standoffish with new dogs at first, then she’s fine after a few minutes. She will bark at you until you pet her. Sometimes our dog plays with our client’s pups, but she mostly does her own thing in my husband’s office since she’s very attached to him. Dogs who are overwhelmed by kids and chaos usually join her on the queen bed by his desk. Dogs who don’t mind chaos usually hang out with me and the kids in the living room and yard. We have a lovely fenced backyard and patio for the dogs to run around in! All doors out of our home have an extra toddler-proof lock at the top, and I AirTag the dogs just to be on the safe side!

A typical day

In a typical day, we wake up around 9, let the dogs out to go potty, and give them their meds. We make sure they have water and food. We just chill around the house during the day, and when the weather is cool enough, we all relax outside before dinner, watching the dogs run around the yard. We let the dogs out at 1-2 hr intervals throughout the day. We refill their food and water. After dinner, we go for a walk when the weather is nice enough. We take them outside to go potty, then go to bed around 10 pm. Sometimes we cuddle while watching TV at night and do belly rubs and brushing. My average number of clients is probably 2-3 at a time, but during busy travel times I might have more, in which case I hire neighborhood kids to help me care for everyone. I make sure everyone’s needs are met and every pup gets plenty of attention! We keep the pups busy and distracted so they don’t miss home much, and they are always excited to visit us again.
