Availability

Currently available most weekdays for long or short walks. I often enjoy going to the Lake District and would take a dog to accompany me. I also go on local walks which are less taxing for older dogs/dogs with injuries etc. As I work in hospitality it can be difficult to take on dogs over the weekend, however this means that because I have Mondays and Tuesdays off, I can look after your dogs whilst you’re at work.

Safety, trust & environment

I have taken care of a variety of dogs, sticking to routines and respecting anything the owners wanted/didn’t want doing with their dog i.e one dog had arthritis and went lame if he got the zoomies, so I couldn’t let him off the lead/become too excitable so he didn’t do himself an injury. Another needed medication administering for a lameness 3 times a day. I have also worked at a doggy day care with a variety of different breeds and types of dogs, ranging from puppies to older dogs and ones with behavioural challenges.

Information Katie G. would like to know about your pet

Any details I need about the dog will be discussed in the initial meet and greet/ walk. This usually means information like how long walks need to be, what is abnormal/normal behaviour for the dog etc.

A typical day

I have plenty of local walks along public footpaths, along rivers and also like to go further afield. I enjoy engaging in activities and training with dogs to keep their brains occupied and burn off extra energy so they’re more relaxed and happy when they’re returned to you.

Pet care experience

I have a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management from Myerscough college and worked for World Horse Welfare for 7 years. I own 1 horse and 2 Shetlands ponies, they are the loves of my life but unfortunately I can’t have my own dog due to having a family cat who would pack his bags and leave if we brought a dog home! I have been around animals all my life, I started riding at the age of 7 and have had my own horse for 12 years! I worked at World Horse Welfare for 7 years and it was the best experience of my life, caring for the horses and seeing them off to new homes. Through working at World Horse Welfare I realised my passion for equine welfare and behaviour which extends to all animals. I always treat animals in my care with love and respect and understand how it feels to leave your animals in the care of someone else, which is why I will always update you every day with photos and a run down of what their day entailed, so you always feel like you’re kept in the loop with what they’re up to and can put your mind at ease knowing they’re in safe hands! When people ask if I am a dog or cat person I answer “both!”. I have owned cats for the best part of 29 years and understand how different they are to dogs, sometimes you have to love them a leave them to be independent! They have different needs to dogs which is something I completely understand and means I can adapt to your cat’s personality! I have been surrounded by dogs through work and friends, having cared for friends dogs whilst they have been on holiday and have had experience working at a doggy daycare with different breeds and types of dogs, all with their own unique personality and needs 🥰

Katie was delightful, the dogs took to her immediately. She was punctual and sent update photos. All this meant that we were able to enjoy a celebratory family meal for a 90th birthday. I have no hesitation in recommending her.
