Pet care experience

10+ years experience with animals

Hi! I'm Katie! I've taken care of animals since I was young girl, house sitting and walking my neighbor's pets while they are on vacation and also looking after my own fur-babies at home. I love all animals and strive to provide the best care possible to all my clients. I worked at Pet Valu as a supervisor for 6 years and was given extensive training with all types of pets such as cats, dogs, guinea pigs, birds, rabbits, fish, reptiles, etc. I also helped run the cat adoption process at the store in collaboration with the humane society and cat sanctuaries in the Durham Region. I'm available for last-minute bookings and I am always available to answer any questions/inquiries before you book with me. We can work together to find the best schedule that works for your needs of your furry friend, so you won't have to worry about finding a pet sitter who fits your schedule.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

To carefully care for your pet when walking them I would consider the following: Safety: Keep the pet's safety in mind during the walk. Avoid busy roads, hazardous areas, or extreme weather conditions that may be harmful. Exercise: Allow them to explore their surroundings, sniff, and investigate their environment. Provide opportunities for play, interaction, and socialization if appropriate. Potty Breaks: Give them ample opportunities for bathroom breaks during the walk. Be prepared with waste bags to clean up after the pet and dispose of waste responsibly. Hydration: Carry water and a portable bowl if the walk is long or in hot weather. Provide the pet with regular water breaks to keep them hydrated.

I've had a good number of cat sitters over the years, and Katie stands out among them. She is experienced, friendly, and clearly does the job out of love for the cats. Even though sitters are only expected to stay half an hour, Katie regularly stayed with the cats longer than that. She also did a great job handling the complex medical needs of our Sadie, which not every sitter is up for!

Katie was amazing! She took wonderful care of our cats while we were away for a week. From the updates to the extra attention she gave them, we felt totally at ease knowing they were in such good hands. Our cats clearly adored her, and we came home to happy, relaxed pets. Katie is reliable, kind, and clearly loves animals—highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!

Medical History: Any medical conditions, allergies, or medications the dog requires in case of emergencies or health issues. Behavior: Understanding the dog's temperament, behavior around other dogs, and any specific triggers or fears they may have.
