Safety, trust & environment

We live in a beautiful community by the bay with plenty of places for dogs to have a blast exploring the peaceful sights and sounds of this magnificent ecosystem we have. For dogs that can handle it, a client favorite is to take them on 4 mile walk to a dog friendly beach and back. That is just one of the many wonderful adventures in walking distance of our home. For smaller dogs, we love to take them on a much shorter walk to the bluff that overlooks the bay with plenty of space to run around and take in the peaceful sights and smells. Most of the time, our own kitties also love to join us on this walk. If boarding, we generally feed them first thing in the morning and go on some adventures, come home and get some water, rest, relax to some DogTV meant to either calm, relax, or stimulate a dog’s (or cat’s!) nervous system. I have found this has worked wonders for their mental state and creates a very peaceful environment. Then, we go on more adventures before dinner and bed, which makes for very tired, happy animals! Please leave written instructions and do not be afraid to leave as much detail as possible. Meet and greets: I do not proceed with new client bookings without first conducting a complimentary meet and greet. This is important for the trust and safety of all and also required by insurance. At the meet and greet, each party can determine if we are a good fit, develop rapport, go over all specific individual care needs, etc. Then, when I see your sweet pet when you are away, we will be well prepared, relaxed and already friends! Key security and home access: For optimal security and peace of mind for both pet parent and caregiver, it is highly recommended that pet parents keep their keys on their personal property at all times with the use of a lockbox or have the caregiver utilize their keyless door access code, if they have one. PLEASE include all access codes under the care instructions section in your profile. If you message them, it can make it extremely difficult and time consuming to find them when needed, as each stay has its own thread. If this is not possible, a hide-a-key is recommended. If you prefer me to retain your key, a $12 pick up and $12 drop off fee will be charged - $24 total for both. This covers the time and gas required, as well as the system created to ensure 100% of all retained keys are absolutely never lost, stolen, or damaged. Always leave a spare key with a trusted neighbor, if possible, as well. Never have your caregiver lock keys in the home after the last visit. If you are delayed before you return, a caregiver will need access again to your pets. Delays like this happen quite frequently, so please do not take this chance.

Information Katie B. would like to know about your pet

PLEASE NOTE: Rover used to send this disclaimer but I’m told clients are no longer getting this notice. You may choose your ideal time, but please allow for a two hour window. For instance, if you choose a 9:00 am drop-in, expect arrival between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. Exact times are not realistic due to logistics and safety allowances. In order to properly care for and also maximize availability for each of you, your cooperation on this is paramount. If you want a dog walk, let me know if you just would like a private walk or if your dog is ok around other dogs. I do give a 20% discount for everyone in a group walk. Let me know of any special needs and preferences your pet has. Do they need any medicines? Is your pet shy? Friendly? Afraid of other animals? Where do they like to walk and play? Are they up to date on their rabies shots? Housesits include an overnight stay with one midday drop-in. If you need more than this, you may schedule extra drop ins.

A typical day

We have a dog park in my neighborhood and love to go down by the bay and we also have a bluff that we love to walk to with a big, wide open place to run! We are really good at throwing balls for doggies to fetch. In the day, we play, and at night, everyone comes in to cuddle. I do this full time, so I am very flexible and can give your dog much care and attention as if they were home.

Pet care experience

*I do not receive notifications between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am, so if you message me between those hours and do not get an answer immediately, do not worry. I will return your message the next morning asap after 8:00 am.* If you want a peaceful, homey, lovey, happy family experience for your furbaby while you are gone, you’ve come to the right spot. I have taken care of “critters” for as long as I can remember. Now that I’m grown, I’ve passed this love on to my little family, so we make a great care team. We love, cuddle, feed, and play with them as part of our family!

Katie was my drop in sitter for almost a year. She always showed up. However she does not like to communicate. She won’t call or discuss issues. Once, there was a bird in my house. It made a huge mess. I am still finding bird poop in places and even a smashed egg. She did not say one word about letting the bird in. She had a lot of difficulty with my older dog and instead of discussing with me to work it out she instead said “everything is great!” Another sitter told me her problems with my dog immediately and then I found out this was now longstanding behavior that originated with Katie. To top it all off, lately she got really snippy with me about a pickup for boarding that she had suggested instead of my dropping off, and then yesterday canceled an upcoming boarding with 3 days notice and also our longstanding recurring dog walking. She provided no explanation and just ghosted me when I asked. She charges a lot for boarding to the point of unaffordability. However she is not professional or forthright. I will no longer trust her with my pets.
