I’ve had dogs of all sizes in my life since I was 2 yo, and I’ve trained multiple of them. I’ve also had pet rats, a gecko, fish, cats, and a brief horse phase. My childhood dream was to be a zoo keeper, but I ended up becoming a social worker instead. However, I still maintain that great love for all animals and have the goal of integrating animals into my therapy practice once I’m licensed. I am willing to work with most types of pets, including the traditional “creepy” ones. Throughout the years, roommates, friends, and family members have trusted me to take care of their pets. Many people have even told me that their pet warmed up to me sooner than most. I like to think I have the kind of calming, kind energy that animals appreciate. I’d love to hang out with your furry/scaly friend sometime and help lessen your load!

Katie stayed with our nervous & somewhat intimidating pit-bull (and kitty) without hesitation while on a long weekend trip. She stayed at night & catered to Diesel’s needs as requested and sent photos and communicated regularly. We were anxious of our Dg’s behavior, as he has never been away from dad at night, except for one week with mom. He warmed up to her well. Katie also was able to help out extra when a flight got delayed unexpectedly.
So thankful Kathryn checked-in on my cat while I was away. She did a great job!

Schedule
I have a day job as a hostess, so I’m sometimes working 5-10 hrs depending on my shift. My boyfriend also lives in VA, so I’m sometimes there visiting. But otherwise, I’m readily available and willing to work with you and your schedule.

Safety, trust & environment
I have experience caring for dogs in homes in both urban and rural places and understand the risks involved with both. I always practice proper walking etiquette, making sure to provide ample space between other dogs/people. I do everything I can to ensure everyone’s safety. Before caring for your pet, I will ask for you to disclose anything about them that I should be aware of, which I’ll keep careful note of. I will maintain quick, open communication throughout our time working together and will provide regular updates.
A typical day
With me, your dog can get cozy cuddles on the couch, riveting games of fetch, satisfying belly rubs, and stimulating walks around the neighborhood. I live on the Tree Streets in Johnson City, where there’s ample sidewalks to walk up and down. While I don’t have a fenced in yard, I do have a shared yard and large deck with a gate where they can lay and soak in the sights and sounds of nature and the city.
