Safety, trust & environment

I only provide daycare and boarding services in my own home so your dog will always have friends here. I watch multiple dogs at a time and my house can get pretty chaotic. I let them zoom throughout the house and rough house all day. Not every dog thrives in that kind of environment and that's ok but just want everyone to know what it's like here. Dogs in my home may have fears to new people or triggers that I may not even know about. I am very transparent on social media and otherwise so I do not allow strangers into my home. It is extremely stressful to both me and the dogs. Excitement, stress, and fear are all sure fire ways to incite a fight and that is not the safe and playful environment that I foster within my home.

Information Kathryn R. would like to know about your pet

Does your dog have separation anxiety? Can they be left alone? - I need to be able to leave my house without inciting fear and panic. It's not fair to me, the other dogs in my home or your own dog. Is your dog crate trained? - in order to have safe feedings, I separate everyone. I also want them to be confident in their crate for bedtime so everyone gets a good night sleep. Do they have good recall? Are they allowed off leash? Any food or toy aggression? Allergies? I require dogs to be dropped off in the morning so I have the chance to exercise them and acclimate them to their new surroundings. Pickup can be flexible but 9am l pickup is what is included with boarding. They are more than welcome to stay for a half day or into the evening the day of pickup for daycare if that is best for you! Because of my frequency at the park and beach, intact males/females are accepted upon my discretion. If they are a humper, it’s an automatic no.

A typical day

I go to the beach or park often and I have an open floor plan in my house where they are free to be wild all day and I do have a small yard for playing or lounging as well.

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm Kat and I have always been an animal lover. I grew up with Boxers and pitbulls so I have been responsible for dogs pretty much my entire life. Living in Ocean Beach makes it SO easy to take your pooch to the beach, park, or even brunch. I have a 5 year old Boxer, Fiona who graciously welcomes all types of dogs into her home! I also have a cat, Hawk, who is really tolerant of all the dogs that come in and out of here. I have experience administering meds so if thats a requirement that is not a problem at all. Have any special requests or needs for your pup? I'm all ears! I can't wait to me you and your furry friends!

Kathryn was great! We were visiting Ocean Beach and had a last minute need for daycare for the day. Kathryn responded quickly and was very accommodating and easy to schedule with. She updated me on how my dog was settling in and took great care of her.

Kat has been the most influential person in our dog Val's life outside of myself and my partner. Val is a TJ rescue who had a great personality hidden behind a really timid exterior. He had severe separation anxiety so I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to go into work since he couldn't be left home alone. The first time I saw him play with other dogs was when we met Kat and her doggy sidekick Fiona. The way Kat connects with and cares for dogs goes far beyond her role. She is very considerate about which dogs she invites to join her pack during the day, and has a great pulse for interaction with other dogs in the neighborhood. Val has become a more confident dog because of the safe and welcoming energy she and Fiona provide every day, I am so thankful for them. Val quickly made great strides in daily care with Kat. Not only is he a happier dog, but we are happier owners! I cannot recommend her enough, I would give her more stars if they let me!

Kathryn was absolutely amazing with our dog Goose! This was our first time leaving him overnight, so we were a little nervous going in, but she made the entire experience so easy and stress free. She kept us updated the whole time and sent plenty of pictures, which we really appreciated. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Goose was in such good hands. We would 100% book with Kathryn again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!
