Safety, trust & environment

I have two cats at home, so I prefer to care for dogs in their owner's home. This has always worked well when I watch my friends’ dogs, as I typically stay at their house or apartment for extended periods while they’re away. It allows their pup to stay in a familiar, comfortable environment with their usual routines, rather than introducing new animals or unnecessary stress. My focus is always on making sure your dog feels safe, relaxed, and at home.

Information Kathryn H. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog and/or cat has any special needs, routines, or behaviors that I should keep in mind. I want your pet to feel safe, understood, and comfortable while you are away. I absolutely love having fun with the dogs I watch, but I also take this responsibility very seriously. With my background and experience around animals, I understand their needs and signals, and I always treat them with the same attention and respect I give to my own.

A typical day

Walks A typical day with me always includes a long walk. I genuinely love walking, and if your pup does too, we are a perfect match. I am very intentional about staying off my phone during walks so I can stay fully focused and maintain proper leash handling at all times. I also take the time to make sure your dog gets meaningful exercise, not just a quick lap outside, so they feel happy, stimulated, and relaxed when you return. Training and Mental Stimulation I also enjoy adding enrichment throughout the day. Puzzle toys are a great way to keep both cats and dogs mentally engaged, and most pets really enjoy them. I like practicing tricks as well. I have taught my own cats to “sit” and “paw,” and I enjoy helping dogs learn new skills or keep the ones they already know fresh. Photos and Updates And of course, photoshoots. I have so many pictures of cats and dogs on my phone. If you would like updates, I am always happy to send photos, especially during longer trips when you might be missing your best friend a little extra. I have even been told I take some of the best pet photos around.

Pet care experience

Hello, I’m Kathryn, but feel free to call me Katie. Having worked at the ASPCA for almost seven years, animal welfare is truly at the core of everything I do. My priority is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you are away. I am reliable, attentive, and committed to keeping your dog healthy and happy with meaningful exercise. I provide longer, quality walks, structured play sessions tailored to your dog’s energy level, and one-on-one companionship so your pet feels cared for throughout the day. What I offer • Consistent, clear communication • Detailed updates with photos • Longer walks • Safe handling, comfort, and routine care • A calm and patient approach Availability • Weekdays: early mornings, mid-day, after work, and late evenings • Weekends: flexible with advance notice I know my rates look a little higher, but that reflects my experience, professionalism, and the level of attention your pet will receive. I am more than happy to hop on a quick call to answer any questions before booking. I can also provide personal referrals if needed. A little about me: I have two cats, Linus and Liam, who are my whole world. I also adore dogs and grew up with several breeds including a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Cocker Spaniel, Mini Schnauzer, and a Bernese Mountain Dog. I hope to rescue a Great Dane someday, but until then I pour all my dog-love into the pups I care for. Skills • Leash training • Basic obedience and tricks • Brushing, baths, simple grooming • Agility exposure (from working with a Bernese) I would love the chance to care for your best friend and make sure they feel happy and comfortable until you return.

Katie was the absolute best. She went above and beyond for her stay with my high energy pup, taking him on three 2+ mile walks over the course of her stay. She was extremely thorough and detail-oriented, executing each request and keeping our dog on schedule as much as possible. Sending a bunch of pictures and detailed recaps for each visit/walk. We would absolutely love to have Katie watch our dog again!

Katie is an incredibly responsible and reliable caregiver who truly loves animals. As a kind-hearted professional who works with the ASPCA, she brings both compassion and expertise to every pet she looks after. She’s a loving mama to two cats and was absolutely wonderful with my foster dog — a spirited pitbull — showing patience, understanding, and genuine affection. I trust Katie completely and can’t recommend her enough for anyone looking for a thoughtful and dependable pet sitter or dog walker.

Katie is absolutely amazing! She’s watched my dog several times now, and every time I know he’s in the best hands. She’s so good with him — patient, attentive, and clearly loves animals. He always gets excited when he sees her, which says it all! Katie gives great updates, sends cute pictures, and makes sure he gets plenty of walks and cuddles. I have total peace of mind when she’s taking care of him. I can’t recommend her enough!

Katie is an animal lover. Despite being a cat mom she is a dog lover. Katie is responsible, kind, caring and fun. She is trustworthy and I would feel comfortable knowing she is taking care of my pups.
