I care for pets in their own homes, and I’m also available to board small- to medium-sized dogs (up to two dogs from the same family) in my home. I talk to animals in a calm, soothing voice, which I find helps me build trust and connect with them, especially timid or nervous pets, in non-threatening way. While you’re away, I’ll send you photos and updates about your pet, their routines, and their environment so you can relax and enjoy your time away, knowing your pet is well cared for. I often send clients photos of their pets eating their food and treats, drinking, playing, and enjoying belly rubs and neck scratches. For cats, I also send photos before and after cleaning the litter box so you can see that I’m staying on top of their care and daily routines. DOG BOARDING: I have a fully fenced backyard in a quiet neighborhood next to a golf course near Lake Washington. It’s a particularly calm setting for dogs who are afraid of loud noises, such as fireworks. We also have a gated deck where dogs can safely relax and enjoy some sunshine. My own dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, takes potty breaks about every two hours, so I’m happy to provide frequent potty breaks for your dog, too. At night, your dog(s) will sleep in a quiet spot inside their crate, which you provide along with any bedding so they are in a cosy space with familiar scents for their comfort. If your senior dog has trouble walking on hard floors: Our adjoined living and dining rooms (and access to deck and backyard) are carpeted, whereas our kitchen and front entryway (and access to food and neighborhood walks) are tiled or hardwood. Thus, we can assist your dog when they need to walk on the hard floors.

I understand that every animal has different needs—from being fed, talked to, brushed, exercised and played with, and cleaned up after, to, most importantly, being loved! I’m happy to follow your suggestions for your pet’s favorite activities, toys, and treats. I also know that pets can behave differently when their humans are away, so I take my cues from your pet while following your care instructions. For example, your playful cat may not be ready to bat at a toy I dangle in front of them until they get comfortable with me. In that case, I might bring my laser pointer toy from home so we can still play without making them nervous by getting too close. For dog walks, I follow your dog’s lead/pace and let them investigate the sights and smells along the way, even if that means getting excited about a squirrel or rabbit! However, I also know that some dogs pull at their leash, so I can purposefully slow their pace if needed. DOG BOARDING: Your dog(s) is welcome to lounge with us on our furniture and will receive plenty of attention from me and my two teenage kids. In addition to backyard playtime with a ball or other toys to help your dog get their zoomies out, I can walk your dog up to twice a day. There is a flat route for senior dogs or a hillier route for more energetic dogs. We can even make an optional stop at a neighborhood box that offers free dog treats!
