Pet care experience

Avid walker and experienced with dogs of all sizes

Available for daytime care Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends. Evening care (5.45pm onwards) Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Can host overnight most nights but may need early pickup (pre 8am) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays as I then head to the office. I’ve had pets since I was born! My family have always had cats and dogs, and I miss the company. One side of my immediate family also owned a dog sitter franchise in Scotland, so I’ve inherited all kinds of advice and training/care tips from them. I hope to one day have a pup of my own, but for now- I’d be honoured to borrow yours :)

Kat was excellent with Harley. She asked me lots of good questions prior to the boarding & fully understood her needs & behaviours. Kay was so confident when meeting Harley that Harley was at ease from right from the initial contact. I found Kay to be friendly & professional & a true lover of dogs. Great communicator & really good feedback on all aspects of the stay. I have already booked again as I have total confidence in Kat & Harley loves her

Wolfie loves staying at Kathryn’s….he comes back totally chilled! Great pre-comms means I can leave Wolfie in her care knowing he’ll be well looked after. Lovely photos & updates during his stay means I can relax knowing he’s in safe hands. Thanks for looking after him so well Kathryn!

Kathryn looked after Wolfie so well…I knew he was in safe hands from the great comms before his stay. Kathryn sent some lovely pics to keep me updated on how chilled Wolfie was during his stay. He was so happy when I picked him up, that I know he had a great time. Totally recommended…and I know Wolfie would love to stay with Kathryn in the future! 5 stars!

Schedule

Overnight stays during the week can be fine if dropped after 6.30ish and picked up before 8.15am. Weekends are also fine for overnight stays and can be more flexible on timings. I love to walk - I do 5k at lunch and happy to do another in the evening. I have some great parks nearby, or lovely walks by the river :) I also enjoy curling up on the couch with a lovely wee dog that trusts me, and letting them nap. Also been known to teach some neat tricks once a pup gets to know me :)

Safety, trust & environment

Our communal garden is iron fenced, and I have many lovely park areas close by. Happy to have dogs on the sofa! And if they get mucky, happy to clean them up 😂 My flat is a 1 bed, but open plan and very spacious and safe. I’ve intentionally kept plenty free floor space for my own exercise, which would benefit larger dogs or playful pups. Mostly laminate flooring, so easy to clean any mess if required 😂 New dogs, for overnight, I’d prefer to sleep in a crate or bed in the living room. But open to compromise if I’ve met the dog beforehand and both parties are comfortable for them to sleep in the bedroom/bed (and by ‘both parties’, I mean me and the dog.) Will always provide lots of attention, love and kindness- but will not encourage bad habits (and certainly won’t teach them any new ones).

A typical day

On WFH days I’ll walk 5k at lunch and exercise at 5 o’clock. This can be a second walk/park play if required! Happy to play fetch (ofc!) in a park if their call and response is reliable enough. Otherwise, lead exercise and outdoor playfulness I can happily work with. Our communal garden is also large and very gated/safe for pets. And often very quiet! I know other dogs in the building, should you want them to socialise on request. Chill time with tummy scratches and a movie is also happily obliged.

Their typical off-lead behaviour, in-public triggers, and call and response reliability is super important to know. But otherwise just general personality and quirks- what they respond well to and what they don’t.
