Respect and Love of Canines!

Hello! I have been an active sitter on Rover since January, 2017. Thank you for looking at my profile and considering me as your sitter! My name is Kathleen and I've been working with dogs and critters on Rover for over 8 years. I have multiple references on hand and have worked in two local kennels before branching out on my own. I believe in respecting the dog, understanding dog language (i.e. whale eyes, clacking, the varieties of tail wagging,) and following the training that works best for your dog. I can offer minor training advice when asked but I am not a professional trainer. I have the experience to handle a wide range of dogs, including senior pets, anxious dogs, and reactive dogs. My experience ranges outside of canines as well: I have worked with horses, pet rats, bunnies, snakes, geckos, chickens, bearded dragons, goats, fowl, felines, and fish. I can and have watched special needs dogs, and have experience administering shots, giving pills, diluting medicines, and using oral/cream medicines. I can handle fear reactive and dog reactive dogs. I have no issue taking care of an intact dog! I do not accept dogs who bite, have a human bite history, or are aggressive towards people. With me, your dogs are assured to be safe and well-loved in the hands of an animal-savvy person. I am active in the dog training community and have my own trainer I can reach out for when needed. I'm familiar with the vets here in St. Mary's, as well as the emergency vets in Annapolis and Virginia.

Safety, trust & environment

I follow a schedule written by you to the best of my ability. It is my goal to keep your pets stress level to a minimum and keep them happy and healthy. I need vet information, emergency contacts, shot records, and any details about your pet. The more the better! To ensure quality of care and safety, it is vital I know your dogs fears and quirks. My dog walking services involve a 20-30 minute walk around your neighborhood. Visits range at 30-40 minutes and your pet will be let out to potty and play. Water, food, treats, and meds can be given at walks or visits per your request.

Kathleen did a great job watching our golden retriever and was ver accommodating to our requests to address his anxiety. We’ve used her services multiple times and know we leave our dog in good hands when we leave. We appreciate the updates and communication!

Kathleen has always taken such great care of our pups while we’re out of town and when we relocate back to the area, she will definitely be our first choice! She is incredibly kind, responsive, and responsible, and our dogs adore her.

Kathleen has been taking care of our cats for the last 5 years. We recently got a pup and in a pinch needed someone to stop by and let her out to pee. Obviously pups don’t like strangers coming in the house, especially the first time but Kathleen was patient and took care of our pup. Greatly appreciated the last minute help and patience with our pup while she was anxious with strangers in the house.

Schedule

Rover is my full-time job and I schedule my day-to-day around that. I take my university classes online and do virtual appointments as needed. I typically only leave to go grocery shopping, have dinner with my family and wife, or to carpool my disabled brother. Additionally, I leave to complete my daily visits and walks.
