Love going for a walk with a dog
I had a dog as a child and had a dog when my daughter was young. In the past decade or more, I have taken care of several dogs belonging to friends while they went away and have gone walking with many friends and their dogs. Small dogs, big dogs, young dogs, old dogs - I love them all. I adapt my walking pace to the dog’s pace.

I am so grateful to have found Kathleen to look after my Jack. He would normally go to a friend’s house but since moving to a new city, that option is limited. When picking him up, he was happy to see me but calm, relaxed and not at all anxious to leave lol. He seemed very much at home. Kathleen sent updates and pictures throughout the day so I could see how well he was doing. Thanks so much Kathleen
Kathleen has done it again!!! :) My pup gets such gold star treatment, and exercise!!, when she stays with Kathleen that I’m almost afraid she’d prefer to stay with her rather than come home with us ;p
Our dog Alfie got tons of exercise and enrichment with Kathleen during his five day stay, and we got to experience the luxury of being completely worry free during our trip, knowing that he was in Kathleen's capable hands!

Our Shih Tzu, Harley, stayed with Kathleen for 8 days March 21-29 for the first time. Kathleen was excellent in keeping Harley active on daily walks. She provided us with messages, photos and videos several times a day which we appreciated. She informed us when a new dog would be boarding with her during Harley’s stay and assured us that he was doing well and fitting in with the other dogs. We highly recommend Kathleen’s doggie care service.

Schedule
I am retired and while I do take part in various activities during the day and evening, I am rarely more than 2-3 kms away from home and spend much more time at home than out. I walk 6-8 kms per day and enjoy it more when I am in the company of a dog. There are two dog parks very close to my house plus many other trails which are ideal for walking with a dog. My neighborhood is very dog friendly.

Safety, trust & environment
I live in a house with air conditioning and a fenced backyard, although it’s not very big. I don’t have any pets but pets are always welcome in my home. If a client needs their dog to be cared for without being in contact with any other dogs that’s not a problem. I allow dogs onto my living room couch but only if the owner approves. I live on a very small, quiet street, across from a small park but I am always conscious of cars and bikes and other dogs. I always ensure that dogs have access to fresh drinking water, are fed on time (as per the owner’s instructions) and have a comfortable dog bed on which to sleep or rest. I am happy to play fetch with a dog in the big dog park and am equally happy to sit next to them on the couch to give them a cuddle while I read or watch TV. Regardless of the weather, I am always keen to spend time outside. However, I know that many dogs are scared of thunderstorms and would prefer to stay indoors as much as possible. Same if the weather is very cold out.
A typical day
I love going for walks with dogs. There are many different places to walk within 5 km from my home. We may join friends who have dogs if the owner agrees and if the dogs are happy to be together for a walk. We may stop and chat with neighbours along our walks but only if the dog is happy to do so. We can play fetch, we can spend time on my porch, we can snuggle on the couch. The dog can be with me as I garden or as I drop something off at a neighbours. I thoroughly enjoy being with dogs and never feel the need to leave them behind if they can be with me as I carry out daily activities such as exercising at home.
