Is your dog full of energy? Can they go on a hike with me? If not, no problem. I have experience caring for elderly dogs. In fact, seniors are my favorite! Did you say meow? I love cats. I’ve had quite a few and appreciate their diverse natures and finicky personalities. I have experience with some exotic animals as well. I’d be happy to work with you on a care plan for your exotic or pocket pets.
A typical day
When I meet a new pup, I always let them come to me first. Sometimes I’ll offer treats or toys the dog is familiar with. I listen to what a pooch is telling me and respond accordingly. During our time together, I’ll pet your fur baby frequently and take them for walks, but it depends on what your pup wants to do. I make sure never to force interaction with a dog or come off as scary – that can be a dealbreaker for some dogs!

Pet care experience
I'm a proud Portland State University grad with a degree in Biology and a special interest in animal behavior. When I'm not learning about canine behavior, I'm busy practicing training techniques with my own dog. I absolutely love working with dogs and nurturing that special bond between humans and their furry friends. I've had the joy of fostering and working with all kinds of dogs, from reactive and anxious pups to high-energy and special needs dogs. This hands-on experience has given me the know-how to provide loving, effective care for all sorts of canine personalities.

Kathleen has been the care person we have been looking for! Our kitty can be difficult and he must stay at our home because of medications he needs. She completely understands him, gives him space when he needs/wants it, and loves and playtime when appropriate. She’s great about giving us updates and lots of pictures!! Kathleen's awesome. My dog Mags is VERY cautious, and typical human approaches do not work. Kathleen combines strategic ignoring with treats offered while not making eye contact! She understands the wary dog. And Mags adores her!
