Animal care isn't just a job for me—it’s my career! I work full-time (typically Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) at a military base laboratory as an Animal Technician, where I spend my days caring for animals. This means your pet will be in the hands of a professional who understands animal health and behavior inside and out. Evenings and weekends are my dedicated "pet time." I’m home and available from the late afternoon onwards to provide plenty of walks, play, and cuddles. If my lab schedule shifts to include a weekend day, I’ll always give you plenty of notice so we can coordinate perfectly. For House Sitting: Your pet’s comfort is my priority! For shorter stays, my husband stays home with our two cats so I can focus entirely on your furry family member. I love my cats and they have some big anxiety when I’m gone for several nights and for that reason I cannot do longer stays than 5 nights- with some exceptions! If you think I’m a good fit for you and your furry family member feel free to reach out and we can work something out! - A Note on Allergies: Because my husband has a severe dog allergy, he can only stay overnight in homes with cats, small dogs, or hypoallergenic breeds. * Flexibility: While this usually means I don't do long stays with larger or high-shedding dogs, please don't hesitate to reach out! I’m always happy to chat about your specific situation to see if we can find a way to make it work. A Quick Word for Bunny Parents: I think rabbits are adorable, but I am unfortunately allergic to them. I am more than happy to do "drop-in" style care (feeding and watering) if your bunny has their own designated room or area. However, to keep my allergies managed, I cannot provide overnight care or visits if your bunny is free-roaming throughout the whole house. I love meeting new pets and their parents, so feel free to message me with any questions. I can’t wait to meet your best friend!

Professional Care in the Comfort of Your Home My approach to pet care is rooted in professionalism, precision, and deep empathy. Because I work in a laboratory setting caring for animals daily, I bring a high level of technical observation to every visit. I’m not just there to feed and walk; I’m there to ensure your pet is healthy, happy, and thriving. In Your Home (House Sitting & Drop-ins) - The "Lab" Standard: My professional background means I am meticulous with instructions. Whether it's a specific feeding schedule, specialized diet, or a detailed routine, I follow it to the letter to ensure your pet feels secure. - Safety & Observation: I am trained to notice subtle changes in animal behavior or health. I perform "wellness checks" during every visit—checking water levels, monitoring appetite, and ensuring their environment is safe and hazard-free. - A Calming Environment: My own cat is easily overwhelmed, so I’ve mastered the art of "low-stress" interaction. I use a soft-touch approach, allowing shy or anxious pets to come to me on their own terms. - Special Needs & Meds: I am very comfortable administering oral medications or supplements. Please note: Due to a personal phobia, I cannot administer any medications involving needles or injections. Activities & Enrichment - For Dogs: Our time together is a mix of physical exercise (walks and backyard play) and mental stimulation. I love using puzzle toys or basic command reinforcement to keep their minds sharp while you're away. - For Cats: I specialize in feline enrichment! From feather-wand play to "treat hunting," I make sure your cats get the social interaction they crave.. Trust & Communication As a former Park Ranger and current military base lab tech, integrity is my baseline. You can expect: - Detailed photo and text updates after every visit. - Extreme respect for your home, privacy, and security. - Total transparency regarding my schedule and any specific allergy needs (rabbits/dog-specific stays).

Let's Make Sure It's a Perfect Match! To provide the highest level of care for your best friend, I love knowing as much as possible before our first meeting. Here are a few details that help me ensure a smooth and happy stay: - Medical Care: I am very comfortable administering oral medications or supplements. However, please note that I have a significant phobia of needles, so I am unable to accept pets that require injections. - The "Work Day" Routine: My professional role at the military base lab is 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. During these hours, I’ll be away from the home, so it’s important that your pup is comfortable relaxing solo during the workday. - A Note for Bunny Parents: I think rabbits are the cutest, but I am unfortunately allergic to them! I can happily help with "room-based" bunnies (feeding and watering if they stay in their own area), but for my own health, I cannot care for free-roaming bunnies or do overnight stays in homes where they have full-house access. - Long-Term House Sitting (3+ Nights): For longer stays, my husband usually joins me. Because he has a severe dog allergy, these extended stays work best in homes with cats, hypoallergenic dogs, or small breeds. If you have a larger or high-shedding dog and need a long-term sitter, feel free to message me! We can chat to see if the home layout allows for a comfortable stay for everyone. - Special Quirks: Does your dog have a favorite "scary" vacuum cleaner? Does your cat prefer to be admired from afar? I love knowing about temperaments, triggers, or any "overwhelmed" behaviors so I can keep their environment as stress-free as possible. I’m all about open communication, so if you have any questions about my schedule or these details, just ask! I'm looking forward to getting to know your pet's unique personality.

Personalized Fun & Enrichment Because every pet has a unique personality—from high-energy hounds to skittish kitties—I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to fun. I tailor our activities to what makes your pet specifically happy. For the Pups: - "Sniffaris": I love taking dogs on walks where they lead with their noses! It’s great mental exercise and helps them decompress. - Interactive Play: Whether it’s a classic game of fetch, tug-of-war, or working through a puzzle toy, I make sure they get their heart rate up. - Brain Games: I enjoy using enrichment techniques like hide-and-seek with treats to keep their minds sharp. - R&R Sessions: For my senior friends or low-energy pups, "fun" might just be a long belly rub and some dedicated companionship while we watch a movie. For the Felines: - The "Hunting" Experience: I use feather wands, laser pointers, and crinkle toys to mimic prey, allowing your cat to express their natural instincts in a safe, controlled way. - Sensory Play: For cats that enjoy it, I’m happy to introduce silvervine, catnip, or even "cat cinema" (videos of birds/squirrels) for some visual stimulation. - Spa Time: If your cat loves being pampered, I offer gentle brushing sessions—perfect for long-haired beauties or older cats who need a little help with grooming. - Quiet Comfort: For shy cats like my own, "fun" is often just sitting quietly in the same room, letting them set the pace for interaction so they never feel pressured. For Other Critters: - If I’m watching your reptiles or other loved companions, I’m happy to assist with scheduled feedings or simply ensuring their habitat remains a stimulating and clean environment. Safety First: No matter the activity, your pet’s safety is my priority. I’m always monitoring body language to make sure they’re having a blast and not getting overstimulated!

Erfahrung in der Haustierbetreuung
I bring 19 years of personal pet care experience, including training my family's rescue dogs and cats (3 dogs, 3 cats) and providing specialized care for my current special needs cat. My 4 years as a volunteer at the Washington County Humane Society provided me with invaluable experience, working with dogs and cats across a wide range of conditions and behavioral needs. My expertise isn't limited to traditional pets; I've also worked with exotic animals such as turtles, snakes, rabbits, ferrets, and mice through the humane society, volunteering at exotic pet rescue events, and as a nature center instructor. As a former community pet walker and sitter, I've built trust with clients and their pets, handling a diverse array of dog and cat breeds. I'm particularly adept at working with "vicious breeds" like Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Boxers, and I'm confident and happy to provide top-notch care for your beloved companion!

Came home to a happy dog again under Katherine’s watch! Couldn’t ask for more! Thank you millions again!

She did a wonderful job with my 2 male Rottweilers dropping in. They love her so much! I am forever grateful for her and she knows her craft very well! All them rubs and kisses she received from them was ment for her! Thank you again.

This was our first time having Katherine house sit for us, and she was absolutely fantastic. From the very beginning, we felt confident in our choice. During the meet and greet, our dog took to her immediately, which spoke volumes. While we were away, Katherine was incredibly responsive and kept us at ease with regular updates and thoughtful photos. It was clear our dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. She treated our home with respect and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. We came back to a relaxed, happy pup and a spotless home. We wouldn’t hesitate to have Katherine sit for us again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive sitter.

This is the first time I have used Rover.com for my two kitties. Had just moved here from out of state and had to find a new sitter. I was nervous about this new process and how my cats would react to a new sitter situation. When I met Katherine I was relieved that she had knowledge and background in cat behavior because after all, most cats are quirky. Our meeting went well and she proved to be very reliable and punctual. Her rate was was fair and reasonable. I was so happy to get pictures of my girls and their progress from Katherine from each visit. They were very well cared for and I’m happy all went well. Katherine did a great job and we will use her services again!
