Safety, trust & environment

I regularly take hikes with my own dog, and have a car kennel for safe transport (the brand is Ruffland). I always double check doors are closed and locked as I had a dog when I was a kid who escaped because of a sitter. I follow instructions very carefully and treat every animal I interact with the way I’d like someone to treat my own pets. I keep pet reptiles and can feed and care for yours if need be.

Information Katherine M. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know details about your pet beforehand and what quirks you think might be important for me to know. Especially in relation to how comfortable they are with strangers, people near their food/toys, other dogs or people especially on walks, how well they walk on a leash, what training they know/what rules you have for them, etc.

A typical day

I love to go on hikes and train, I love playing fetch or tug, or even just give your animal all the snuggles they want inside. I love walking with dogs and allowing them to smell new smells and get lots of exercise in nature. I have a long line I use for hiking which allows the dog more freedom while stilling being leashed and safe. I also love bike joring whenever possible, essentially dog sledding with a bike instead of a sled, I’ve taught multiple different dogs how to bike and would be willing to a teach a dog as long as I know them well enough and think they’d be a good candidate for joring—it allows the dogs to run full speed safely and get lots of energy out. I have all the proper equipment for it other then needing a safe pulling harness fitted to the dog.

Pet care experience

I’m a dog trainer, reptile educator and small scale snake breeder (so I have experience caring for hatching snakes), and have fostered cats, dogs and reptiles. I have worked with animals since I was a small child. I’ve trained my own service dog and love training with young puppies and giving them a confident foundation. I regularly go bike joring with my own dog. I’ve always lived with cats and am very comfortable caring for them. I own many reptiles and am experienced with snakes and lizards, I’ve also worked with horses (rode competitively for 9 years and managed the care of four horses) and other farm animals. I’m not afraid of exotic animals like invertebrates and have some experience with them and with fish.

Scarlet took great care of my 7mo old puppy. She’s a playful thing & know she loves her time spent with sitters. All the updates & photos were appreciated. I plan to continue using Scarlet in future. Thanks!!

Had to leave my dog while I went on vacation and they were amazing. Took my dog (Sadie) out on walks and continued the training I’ve been doing with her so once I got back my dog was ready to go back to classes! It was so comforting to also receive pictures of my girl having fun while I was on vacation. I can’t recommend them enough. If you’re looking for someone who knows dogs and how to work with them and their pawrents this is it.

Scarlett is great! She took care of wasp while I was away and even did some extra training with her. She updated me every meal and told me what wasp was up to each day. She knows so much about dog language and tailors to each dogs breed, age and confidence. She is a also really good at trouble shooting solutions when one thing isn't working.
