Pet care experience
Smart & loving pet sitting
****NOTE**** I have a toddler son who I bring with me on Rover bookings. I grew up with a variety of pets, including dogs, rats/gerbils/rabbits/fish, and briefly a cat. I have cared for friends’ pets since I was 10 years old. I am a licensed healthcare provider and PhD student who enjoys watching pets in my spare time. I am also certified in Cat/Dog First Aid from the American Red Cross.
Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
When house or pet sitting, I try to spend as much time as I can with pets and leave the house/apartment cleaner than when I arrived. I send pictures and updates regularly. **Note** For house sitting, I no longer accept bookings if my husband, James, is not permitted to join me. This is non-negotiable. He is also an excellent sitter on Rover: https://r.rover.com/kPNzdc He works full-time as an elementary teacher. It is just too hectic for us with meal planning, scheduling, and logistics if he is not allowed to come with me. Plus, you get two sitters for the price of one! It’s a win-win (we hope!).
Ratings and reviews
Very motherly towards my baby. It’s what I needed. Very attentive and provided feedback and status updates. During a thunderstorm and my baby was freaking out, Katherine reached out and followed my instructions to the t and was able to calm her immediately.

Our back door was left open and unlocked unfortunately. Additionally the appointment wasn’t for the entire 30 minutes. We won’t be booking again for these reasons.

Katie was amazing. It was our first time using her for dog sitting and she was so accommodating and had great communication while we were gone for the weekend. Our dog Riley loved her!! We will definitely use her again for our dog sitting needs.
Katherine was wonderful working with our anxious pup. Communicative, flexible and so helpful!

Kate did a great job caring for our dog, cat, and house! She was reliable and communicative, with lots of photos. One thing that stood out to me was that she shared “bad” news like when my dog didn’t eat a meal. This is typical of my dog, and didn’t alarm me, but it built trust knowing that she told me everything that was going on instead of just saying “he’s great!” We will definitely try to hire Kate again.

Kate was great! She sent me very cute pictures after her check in with Smaug and I had comfort in knowing he was being looked after well.

Schedule
I am a postdoctoral researcher with a flexible schedule, and I work completely remotely. I need some advance notice, but I can accommodate pets with a variety of support needs.
- Cats0 to 15 lbs16 to 40 lbs41 to 100 lbsover 101 lbsDogs over 1 year oldKatherine can host up to 1 drop-in per day
- Let me know if your dog has any special dietary needs, medical needs, or behavioral triggers so that I can accommodate them. I am not easily fazed by quirky things pets do, but I would rather know before a booking than during a booking. I am happy to dispense medications provided that you put instructions for all medications in writing. Please leave me with your vet’s name and number in case of an emergency.
