Hi, my name is Katie! My family dog, Bo, is the center of my universe, so I understand just how important your pet is, and I am committed to offering you the peace of mind of knowing that your pet is being cared for. I prioritize respect of the pet's boundaries and comfort levels in order to create a safe and positive experience, an approach I’ve found particularly helpful in working with high-anxiety dogs. I spent a year volunteering as a dog walker with the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA; in this capacity, I received training on safe dog handling practices and gained experience walking dogs of all sizes and breeds. I am comfortable caring for animals both small and large, and have particular experience walking dogs that pull on their leash. I understand body language cues and take proactive steps to recognize and avoid situations that might make your pet anxious. I understand that each pet is a microcosm of emotions and routines, and am happy to learn your pet's games, tricks, routines, and boundaries. Your fur baby is your world, and I will keep them safe and happy! By working with me, you can rest assured that your pet will be given the love and respect that they deserve, and that they will be kept safe and happy. I also enjoy taking goofy pet pictures of the animals I care for, so you can look forward to plenty of fun updates!

I operate on a drop-in method, meaning that I will visit your home to care for your pet. I prioritize making your pet comfortable, and will work with you to make sure your pet's needs are met.

Katherine is a compassionate and conscientious sitter. My two dogs love seeing her and trust her. She makes an extra effort to follow instructions and to inquire with us if there are any concerns about the dogs. We have older dogs, and I had left a note about certain issues she might observe with one of the dogs. During visits, she attended to my dog with great care and monitored him closely to make sure he was fine before leaving from visits. She provides exceptional care, and we highly recommend her.

Katie is a conscientious and caring dog-sitter. She did a great job establishing trust and providing emotional comfort to our dogs while we were away. One of our dogs is particularly anxious when we leave, and he responded well to Katie. Both of our dogs loved her. They received excellent care, and we appreciated the written updates and photos.
Katie has been interested in animals, especially dogs, for many years. She shows patience when interacting with dogs (or their owners), and is calm, consistent, and considerate. Her communication skills, both in person, or via text or email, are fantastic. If she reaches out with a question on how to best help your pet, you will get detailed comments or a specific question, possibly photos as well. Katie is conscientious, helpful, and kind. She can handle large dogs, small dogs, and is up for a challenge, if needed.

Schedule
Outside of pet care, I am currently working part-time as a park ranger; my work week is typically Wed/Sat/Sun/Mon 8-6. I have these days blocked out in my calendar, however if your pet needs early morning (before 8) or evening (after 6) care, please message me and I can work with you!
