There is a fenced in dog park in the forest area outback that I’ve never seen anybody else use. As a rule, I don’t let the dogs I petsit meet other dogs so I just walk them more and play with them more to keep their mind, body, and soul happy and engaged! Let’s have some fun dancing around and stretching those leggies out for a sprint in the back at the dog park or along the side walks. I allow 2 different owners at one time or just one if you request it so your pup needs to get along well with others or you need to tell me you want to be the only solo dog. I have been petsitting since I was a child and got on Rover in 2015 and have been petsitting in the Triangle ever since! I have met some of the absolute best people and lovable pups from all around the Triangle and world. I've had people bring me back t-shirt from the Salty Dog Cafe in Hilton Head, tea the Queen of England drinks and prawn crisp chips from the UK, and keychain from the Caribbean, etc. It makes me so happy to spend time with your furbaby “borrow them” and treat them as my own with love, care, attention, and good pack/individual rules. I love the opportunity to work with dog moms and dads and their furbabies which are angels without wings! I want to make sure that you and your furbaby are happy, healthy, and doing well physically, mentally, and emotionally. Originally, I dogsat in my own home and then moved in with family while I was going to school so I dogsat in other people's homes because I couldn't dogsit where I was. Now I dogsit in my own apartment where I moved. I am a remote worker now so I love to have a furry co-worker to keep me company! I have a "Woof Station" (workstation) set up downstairs with plenty of toys and treats, water bowl, and beds for them to lounge on. They might even adore the "Cuddle Couch" where I like to read, drink my coffee, and pet the cutest furbabies! I love being able to borrow yours and treat them as my own kinda like I'm their Auntie K/Auntie Katherine. :-) I’m a big cuddler but if your dog needs some “me time” by themselves I don’t force it. I love all breeds and have experience with many. I probably prefer the average dog best, but I may be willing to work with you depending upon your specific needs and dog's temperament. Most dogs behave very well for me--just adorable little nuggets of joy, so I'm happy to propose a meet and greet and we'll see if I can go Dog Whisperer on your Pup too! I do not dogsit Pitbulls or Rottweilers. My favorites with your pooch are scenic nature walks, playing fetch, belly rubs, and cuddle time. The walk around my neighborhood is nice. As a general rule, I do not let dogs meet other dogs because you never know how your dog or the other person's dog may react. I play with them extra to give them more fun. Most people and their pets are absolute gems but I am a bubble wrap but fun caregiver. I like to make sure we are like the Boy Scouts-- Always Prepared. :-) I can have multiple owner's dogs in the house or not. Please let me know if your animal absolutely cannot be around another animal in the home meaning I can only dogsit your furbaby. Sometimes there's overlap on bookings on big holidays, but sometimes there's not. I follow pack rules—all doggos must be kind to one another and not steal toys even though that’s tough! Lol I make them be kind, fair, and loving towards one another. I have water out and change it frequently. When we have a crowd, I use a filtered infinity bowl so I don't have to fill up multiple times a day. If your dog needs mental stimulation or inhales their food, I recommend a busy bowl. I have puzzle toys. We go on walks and I let them sniff. I give them love and attention. Doggos are like people and some need medicine from vet for trips. I am great at giving it on time and as prescribed (oral with a treat or food or injection). I want to make sure they’re happy and healthy! I worked with one owner and we bonded so much that she was going to let me take her Ferrari out for an event. She also had a stomach ache a few days before leaving her 2 furbabies with somebody else and asked if I could just come over even though I had planned not to do that...but because I cared about her and her dog, I agreed to dogsit for those 2 angels. I also wrote a note to the next dogsitter who stays in her home describing what's normal for her two furbabies for the next dogsitter. I want to work with clients who practice the Golden Rule for themselves, others, and their furbabies...if you wouldn't want it done to you- don't do it. If you would want it done to you- do that! Cats too! I can give shots to diabetic dogs. I will probably give them a treat each time though because I hate needles/blood draws. Most dogs really take it like a champ though but still I want to reward them for their bravery! How This Works: 1. Contact me on Rover 2. Set up a Meet and Greet- Psychologically this is good for your dog to come check out the place and meet me...I slowly or quickly bond with the dog depending on their temperament (Meet & Greets are 20-30 minutes long...if you would like an hour long Meet & Greet, please book a Drop-In or Walk), I give them a treat, belly rub, play with a toy, etc. I meet you and tell you about myself and you see the area so you know where your dog will be taken care of. I crate overnight and have crates for the dogs. Dogs bladders and bowels can act up when their owner is gone and while I'm fine with 1, maybe even 2 accidents...I'm not a fan of providing more than those 2 courtesy accidents so we crate just to be careful. I cannot afford to replace our new sofas if they get chewed up so this is just to be careful but I try to limit crates to just overnight or if I have to go to grocery store or something. Very short is ideal. I let them out and they still just are upset so sometimes they have the "First Day Pee-Pee Piddles" is what I call them where they're nervous/excited and just pee...sometimes in front of their owners. I vacuum and mop between dogs to limit smells/marking inbetween dogs to give them more neutral smelling area but dogs still like to mark. If your male dog is over 1 year and not neutered, please tell me. It's good for the dog to see you and me be cool with one another so the dog knows to be cool with me too. Also I like that the dog learns...oh we go over there for a belly rub, walk around the place, treat...and then my dog mom and dog dad take me home. If the dog has never been here, it may make them feel like they're being abandoned which can lead to worse separation anxiety. I have a busy schedule but I offer free 20-30 minute drop-ins. I love to bond with owners, but it's $20/extra 30 minutes of my time. If what you need is an hour or hour an half to talk with me to console your anxiety about leaving your furbaby...please let me know this upfront. I only mention things because they have happened in the past. I want everybody to feel comfortable but my time is valuable and the first 20-30 min is what's complimentary. I have a very busy schedule but this is something I absolutely love doing. I know you are scared about leaving your furbaby with a stranger if you're new...but I can only give away 20-30 min of my time. Book it- if you decide to go with me. Rover will charge your account once you confirm the book after I say yes. I don't receive my portion (80%) until 3 days after booking if they haven't changed it. 4. With booking, it charges you by the 24 hrs or 12 hours. If you drop your dog off at 10am and pick them up 2.5 days later at 5pm then it gets charged 2.5 hours. My other clients I offer a 1-2 hour grace period but not sure if Rover does. 5. Drop-offs at Night- Before 8pm. I need sleep to function and I work. Also, your dog also needs time to decompress before it goes to bed the first night. I typically also take them on a walk to ease any nervous anxiety they have when their owner leaves. It also helps us to bond. This means you will be leaving no later than 8:30pm and me and your dog have time to do all these things before they are crated for bed. I give a treat when they go into their crate. 6. Drop-Offs in Morning- I prefer drop-offs not be any sooner than 8am. Please contact me if you need earlier than that...I had somebody wanting to drop their dog off at my house at 4am lol I'm sorry but no, you'll need to book for the night before. It's not good for me or the hubs to wake up that early and your dog will probably not like drastic adjustment in sleep schedule either. "What's good for the goose is good for the gander" i.e. Try to keep your dog on a similar schedule with me so drop him off night before if you have a 6am flight etc. Also, please do not feed your dog a full t-bone steak that is prone to "digestive upset" with people food...lol poor thing, I had to go to store and get him pumpkin puree to settle his stomach. Just try to stick to your normal routine and this will help your furbaby do better. 7. You will get photos and videos. I don't know why it says 90% get photos and videos...I can't remember a single time I haven't sent loads of photos and now I even include video sometimes if something interesting is happening. I send more in the beginning for your benefit. My clients are probably pretty spoiled cause I send so many lol but I like to let them know their doggo is doing okay especially in beginning of trip when the adjustment is the hardest the first 24-48 hours. 8. Separation Anxiety- Adaptil Collars- heard good things never tried it (works like mother's scent), Melatonin/CBD gummies (I have ThunderWunder chews for emergencies) etc or go to vet and get Gabapentin or Tramadol for separation anxiety. Most dogs love it here and don't need it but you know if your little buddy needs it or not. If they bark their head off when you go get the mail bc they've go separation anxiety...help the little buddy out. There's no shame in getting help and they'll do better with me. Just go ask the vet if they need medication support or training support for separation anxiety. One of the reasons I go on walks and let them sniff and provide treat/puzzle toys is to help with nervous anxiety. Physical and mental stimulation helps with this but a vet is going to know if they need medication support. They're there to help. 9. Get your furbaby back and get a report of how they did even though you'll already know because I tell you and send pictures and videos lol when you pick them up. :-) Morning- -I like to wake up and take them outside- do a Potty Break and Sniff Outside (let them explore close by and around the house) or Morning Walk -Come inside and have my morning coffee, make breakfast for me and give them theirs, and do a little devotional if there's time, give them a snuggle on the cuddle couch -Morning work -Mid-morning Potty Break and Sniff Outside if possible -Potty Break and Sniff Outside at Lunch -Afternoon Potty Break and Sniff Outside if possible -After-work Walk -Dinner -Chores and Errands -Evening Socializing with friends if we have something on the schedule Okay, so I kinda call myself a "bubble wrap" petsitter because I am super careful. I play if they wanna play. I walk them if they seem bored or antsy but I don't let them meet other dogs because you never know how they or the other one will react. I try to play or give them Kongs to engage their brains but sorry the goal is drama-free time here so it may be a more boring walk but they still love their walks and I let them sniff and do their thing and go at their pace (unless they want to run...I only run after taco trucks that are about to leave a parking lot. haha) Happy and healthy pups is my goals with owners that are happy and reassured their angel baby is being well taken care of!! I send a few photos and videos especially if it's a new client. Being able to lay eyes on your furbaby and see how they're interacting by themselves if it's just them or with other dogs if we have them and have agreed upon them has proven to really help owners out! I totally get it!
